We were delighted to be informed in April that one of our Beaver Scouts had been selected to receive the Chief Scouts Unsung Hero Award from Dwayne Fields, after running 2K a day for a whole month to raise funds for Meningitis Now. On Friday 15th May, he travelled to Gilwell Park Scout HQ with his family to receive his award along with 19 fellow recipients from around the UK, all having earned the prestigious award for acts of selflessness, kindness and displaying core values of Scouting. We would like to congratulate Noah for his fantastic achievement, raising over Β£1.5k for your charity, over 10x your target, and 'doing your best to be kind and helpful' in every way. You are an inspiration to us all πŸ‘βšœοΈπŸŽ–οΈ

🦫Our Beavers made the most of the sunshine on Friday night to get outdoors and plant their own cress and sunflower seeds to look after for the next term 🌻🌱 Indoors we were looking at gardening tools and their uses, what trees look like in each of the seasons and what plants need to grow. The Beavers did very well on all their tasks and we look forward to some photos in the coming weeks of how their sunflowers and cress seed heads are growing after being looked after by our little green finger Scouts πŸ˜€

We wound up our first half term last night at Scouts by investing two new members and a Team Member into our troop who has worked his way up through the sections from Cubs to making his Promise as a Leader. Our Beaver Scouts learned a new song last week with Mrs J towards their Musician Stage 1 and Skills Challenge Award… We did a (very loud) vocal warm up to start with, then learned our song line by line, adding in actions and finished the night with a performance for parents.

⚜️ Our Scouts ventured out on Thursday night to visit AA Silencers in Cheadle to earn their Mechanics Activity badge with the highly skilled technicians at the garage. We worked around all bases learning about...
πŸš— the requirements for an MOT road test
πŸš— the legal requirements for safe tyre tread and how to check the tread depth
πŸš— how to change a wiper blade
πŸš— how to check the coolant levels and importance of topping up engine oil and brake fluid..among many other topics.
Well done to all our Scouts for their involvement and to all the technicians, Managers and staff at AA Silencers for their assistance, making our Group feel welcome in their workplace, answering their questions and providing refreshments and some valuable

Well done to our Beavers tonight for braving the rain and wind to walk the short distance to our neighbouring church at Freehay, St Chads. We met with and asked Reverend Garry some very interesting, thought provoking questions that could only be asked by inquisitive Beaver Scouts πŸ€”
He told us about their novel way of cleaning the high ceilings in the church, which was definitely high on the list of an interesting fact about visiting somewhere new…..
Most of our Beavers worked on their faith badge last term and completed tonight with a visit to a place of worship and learning about some of the services, furniture and facts about the church and parish.
Fantastic evening and definitely an outing to remember.
Well done to Miss S and LC for getting awards in school assemblies today, we will hear all about them next week when we are back in the hall for an indoor evening of music making.

Last night our Beavers put their brains into action by completing some problem solving puzzles to tick off Chief Scout Bronze badgework and teamwork activities πŸ€”πŸ§
The Beavers worked together in their Lodges to work on 4 different puzzles with a quick Zoo game at the start and a speedy game of Olly Olly Octopus πŸ™ at the end. For a cold and wet night it was a great activity to get their brains into action, while marking off some badgework along the way. Well done to them all for great teamwork πŸ‘πŸ»βšœοΈπŸ¦«
