We've had some time in the spotlight recently with lots of press coverage celebrating our work!

Our staff and students have done a brilliant job explaining the importance of our organisation to the media, and we've had outlets including the BBC, Granada and Manchester Evening News showcasing our stories.

In this video we hear from Laneyle and Sam, our student ambassadors who were interviewed by the BBC. They told reporters all about the new Ged Mason Building opening and what it means to them to finally be enjoying the new facilities.

You can see lots more of our recent coverage on our website. Just navigate to What's On - News.

We were delighted to welcome in four excellent supporters to show them where their generous donations have been spent.

Simon and Hayley Showman from the Showman Rose Foundation saw the climbing wall the foundation funded and Hayley even had a go herself! Of course, she had some expert tips from our Active team and College student Tin.

We also welcomed Stephen and Kath Lowe from the The Stoller Charitable Trust. The trust funded our new sports hall.

Both these facilities are in our new Ged Mason Building and can be used by staff and students from both Royal College Manchester and Royal School Manchester, as well as being hired by the wider community.

It's great when we're able to show donors what they've helped fund and how invaluable it is to Seashell. Thank you everyone for coming in!

Thank you so much to the BlueSpark Foundation for funding this wonderful Floatsation equipment!

This swimming aid is made of foam-like balls and supports flexibility, independence and stability in the water for all ages and abilities.

Here's some of our Royal School Manchester students enjoying using the equipment during a session in the Bertie Broome Swimming Pool.

Thank you so much to Team Laltex, who very bravely jumped out of a plane to support Seashell!

The fearless five raised over £2,000 by taking the 11,000ft leap. This amazing total will support us to continue transforming the young lives of those with the most complex needs.

"It was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I will never forget and it’s an honour to support such a brilliant cause," said Jess, one of the brave bunch.

We're so grateful to Laltex for being such incredible supporters - they recently received the King's Awards for Enterprise for their exceptional work with us. THANK YOU!

We were delighted to take part in the recent Natspec Parliament, which is a twice-yearly online discussion hosted by five different SEND Colleges across England and Wales.

Discussions included topics such as the SEND White Paper and public transport, and our College Student Council shared powerful reflections about their experiences.

In a discussion about transport, Luke used his communication aid to share that he enjoys using public transport to go shopping. Kaitlin shared her frustrations around limited wheelchair space on buses when accessing the community, which led to a wider discussion around accessibility restrictions.

"I was incredibly proud of how confidently our students spoke in front of such a large audience – they were articulate, brave, and ensured their voices were heard," said Maureen, College Teacher.

For David Attenborough's 100th birthday, we had some very exotic animal friends visiting our school!

Thank you to Boo's Mobile Zoo for showing us these beautiful animals, which include a boa snake, meerkat, owl, tortoise, skinny pig, and a tegu lizard.

Our students enjoyed meeting the different animals, feeling their different textures and holding them.

We have now posted our response to the SEND White Paper on our website.

In it, we outline how Seashell welcomes the ambition of the SEND White Paper reforms and the focus on better outcomes for children, young adults and families.

At Seashell, we’re clear: the success of these reforms depends on fully recognising and supporting those with the most complex disabilities, ensuring access to the right specialist provision, a skilled workforce, and strong multi-agency collaboration.

We look forward to working with the Department for Education and Local Authorities to help shape a system that delivers real, lasting change.
