On Wednesday 4th March 2026 the Medway Towns Rotary Clubs came together to organise and run a Technology Tournament for local schools.

Students in teams had to design and build a Pipeline Vehicle that cleared debris. The Advanced team had to collect and drag the debris back to the start point under the watchful eye of Chief Judge Chas Bedford.

The winners were presented with a cash prize and visit to a local engineering firm by The Mayor of Medway Councillor Trevor Clarke.

Winners:
Foundation: Rivermead School
Intermediate: Holcombe Grammar School
Advanced: Waterfront UTC

Thank you to all who helped and participated to make the day so enjoyable.
Thanks also to the Royal Engineers Museum for their continued help and support.

This week Chatham and Strood Rotary Clubs had a joint cheque presentation evening.

Past President Mark from Chatham Rotary welcomed a representative of the Bridgewood Manor Hotel and presented a wheelchair to the Hotel on behalf of Chatham Rotary members. This will be used to aid hotel guests when needed and it bears the Rotary logo.
Jayne from One Big Family gave a brief update on the work of the charity with the Homeless, after which Mark presented her with a donation on behalf of Chatham Rotary.
Past President Sue from Strood Rotary welcomed Margaret from My Shining Star, a charity that works for the families of children with cancer, who need help and support during and after the childs treatment. Sue presented her with a donation for the charity from Strood members.
Simon from KSS gave an update on the status of the Air Ambulance as of now. It has 3 parts to its format:
HEMS ‘emergency room’ care for patients attended by one of 3 helicopters or one of the rapid response vehicles now being used (one of which Rotary District 1120 donated)
A patient after care service, which gives patients who are treated, an overview of their trauma and offers them to meet up with the staff who cared for them at the start of their journey to hospital
CPR training which is offered to anyone who wishes to take it up. Over 100,000 people have been trained so far.
Sue presented Simon with a donation for KSS from Rotary members collections during her Presidential year.

Strood Rotary members enjoyed fun and fellowship at District Conference in Eastbourne this weekend.
Highlights included the energetic Rev Kate Botley, one of the original Calender Girls and composer Simon May. There were a number of other interesting speakers who have given us ideas to develop in the future. Many also enjoyed a concert with singers from the West End doing show numbers. Food was good too! Well done to our Denis and the other organisers.
