𝑮𝒐 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒍𝒐 𝑩𝒍𝒐𝒈

Hi, it’s me Flo! 🐾

Last time I gave you a little teaser that I had some people come to meet me, and you may have noticed my profile changed to “reserved”. Well...here’s a little video clue for you.

This was me at the kennels, playing “Queen of the Castle”, I was practising for being queen of my own home one day. Well, 'hint hint' that practising has paid off! 😉

I’m not announcing anything officially just yet as I need time to settle and make sure things are right for me, so, for now, it can stay our little secret, yeah?

Love n’ Licks

After my update this morning, I just thought I’d pop back with a little tip for staying cool this summer - water and balls make a great combo.

You’re welcome. ☺️

Hello hoomans, it’s me – Bean! 😁

Can you believe I've been in my forever home for SIX whole months now? After spending so long waiting for a family, I've discovered something very important...

The world is HUGE! 🌍

And do you know what? I've decided to grab it by the paws and make the most of it.

These days I'm a very busy girl. I regularly head out with my dog walker, who absolutely adores me (understandable, really!), and I've become quite popular with my family's friends and extended family too. 💕

At home, I've fully embraced the cosy life. I'm a professional duvet-snuggler, my garden is very much MY kingdom, and I take my important jobs of weeding assistance and bird control very seriously!

I also enjoy off-lead adventures in secure fields twice a week, where I can stretch my legs, chase my ball, and show off my zoomie skills. Add in late-night neighbourhood strolls and walks in quiet fields where I can properly relax, and life is pretty wonderful.

One thing I'm especially proud of is how much I've learned. Animals on the TV used to be a Very Big Deal. In fact, I may have launched myself at them with such enthusiasm that the television's survival briefly came into question! 😳 Now I can watch them calmly without trying to join them. What a huge achievement!

Everyone says how much more settled I am these days, and while I'm still learning about the world, I've come such a long way.

Not every adventure goes perfectly, of course. We went on holiday to Wales and discovered that some places are still a bit overwhelming for me. A beach full of off-lead dogs caused my worry bucket to overflow and resulted in Mum ending up on the floor while I demonstrated my impressive sprinting abilities! 🙈

It taught us a lot about what I still find difficult, but my family keep helping me feel safe and successful. Forever Hounds Trust have also been incredibly helpful whenever my family have needed advice or support, and they've played a big part in helping me settle into home life.

Taking on a reactive dog hasn't always been easy, but they say they don't regret it for a second.

And I definitely don't regret finding them. ❤️

Love n' licks,

Bean 🐾💛

Pretty Bandit is taking on our 30 miles in 30 days challenge with her lovely mum – and they’re doing brilliantly at clocking up the miles...well, mostly!

Bandit, however, has developed a very strategic approach to training...distraction, diversion, and the occasional dramatic rest day 😄

The following day, her mum reports:

“Bandit pulled a sicky today...claiming exhaustion after last week’s efforts! She managed 0.66 of a mile just to ‘do the necessary’, then retired to the sofa! I carried on and cracked 3 miles! So much easier on my own!!!”

Sounds like Bandit is pacing herself perfectly 🤣💤❤️

As a dedicated sighthound rescue, we're sometimes approached by all-breed rescues asking if we can help promote their dogs to our wonderful community of sighthound lovers.

Meet gorgeous Roo and handsome Nick ❤️

These two beautiful black hounds are currently in the care of other rescues in London and Devon, and despite the incredible efforts of their rescue teams, they are still waiting for the loving homes they deserve.

We've therefore welcomed them as guest profiles on our website because, ultimately, our goal is to help hounds find homes. Rescue is stronger when we work together, and every dog deserves the chance to be seen by the right family.

And honestly, how could we resist helping these gorgeous dogs? 🖤

If either Roo or Nick catches your eye, you can read more about them and submit an adoption application via their profiles below:

Please share to help us find these beauties the forever homes they've been waiting for. 💕

When beautiful Eden came into our care at 11½ years old, she needed more than just a dental operation - she needed comfort, kindness and love. ❤️

After her procedure, we knew it wouldn’t be fair to place her back into kennels. At her age, she needed the warmth and comfort of a home, so she went into foster care while we searched for her forever family.

But sometimes, forever finds you when you least expect it.🐾

That foster home became her forever home, and a whole year later we were delighted to receive this lovely update from her mum:

"Time flies when you’re having fun - we can’t believe it is a whole year since Eden joined us. Heading for her 12th birthday she was considered a golden oldie but now heading for her 13th she has other ideas. She is still loving her walks, her food (and anybody else’s), her sofa and she’s still giving squirrel chasing a good go! We love her to bits and hope she’s planning on being around for a good while yet ❤️"

So do we! 🥰

Eden is clearly living her very best life - exactly as every hound deserves.

🐾🏡 New Dog Available! 🏡🐾

Let us introduce you to gorgeous Fern!! 🥰

Fern is a small-medium sized lurcher girl of around 8-9 months old, looking for her forever home after a difficult start in life. Fern is a sweet, affectionate dog who thrives on human company. 💕

She’s also a big fan of other dogs, and enjoys making new friends! She is currently staying in a home with another dog, who she gets along brilliantly with; she will need to live with another dog in her new home, as she struggles with being left alone without canine company. Fern does like to play rough, and also loves to cuddle up with other dogs to sleep, so any resident dogs must be comfortable with this!

Fern has been spending time with children from age 6+ and has been very good with them, but she is a bouncy girl and would be too much for very small kids. She walks well on the lead and has good recall off-lead in safe areas – as long as there are no rabbits or squirrels about, since she has a very high prey drive! Being a young dog, Fern has plenty of energy and would suit a fairly active family.

Homing Needs:

🐾 Must live with another dog.
🐾 Can live with sensible children 6+ who are used to dogs, pending introductions.
🐾 Cannot live with cats or small furries.
🐾 Needs a decent-sized, secure garden to run and play safely.
🐾 Can be left alone for short periods with the company of another dog.
🐾 Needs a decent amount of exercise and plenty of attention.

Please read her profile on the following link ⬇️ and send in an application if you would love this gorgeous girl in your life!

🐾 Volunteers’ Week Spotlight: Post Homing Support Volunteers 🐾

At Forever Hounds Trust, our support for hounds doesn’t end when they leave our care. Every adopted dog receives lifetime behavioural support thanks to our incredible Post Homing Support volunteers.

These dedicated volunteers help adopters with everything from settling in and toilet training to more complex behavioural challenges, supporting both the dog and owner throughout the dog’s life. Their guidance is vital in helping hounds stay happy in their forever homes and preventing dogs from returning to rescue.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating volunteers like Ella.

Ella’s love for greyhounds began when her family adopted a retired racer and discovered their affectionate personalities and sofa-stealing habits. That passion inspired her to study Animal Behaviour at university, and she now works full-time as a dog assistant and trainer.

Alongside her career, Ella volunteers as a virtual Post Homing Support Volunteer, helping adopters adjust to life with their newly adopted hounds.

“It’s a rewarding role where I can use my skills to make a real difference in the lives of both dogs and their humans,” Ella says. “I enjoy building relationships with adopters and supporting them as they adjust to life with their new companions.”

We are incredibly grateful to Ella and all of our amazing volunteers who give their time, compassion, and expertise to help our hounds thrive. ❤️

We are currently looking for more qualified dog behaviourists to join our Post Homing Support team. If you have relevant experience or qualifications in dog behaviour and could spare a few hours a month, we would love to hear from you.

Thank you to all of our volunteers this Volunteers’ Week — we couldn’t do it without you! 🐾
