This doesn’t seem right, decisions like this shouldn’t be made by a small group, they should be made by the collective.
Health before Wealth, by all accounts there are cost savings to be made without closing it completely.

There have been reports that High Peak Borough Council's Carelink service could face closure, raising concerns about the future of a vital scheme used by elderly, disabled and vulnerable residents.

Carelink provides 24-hour emergency support, helping people remain independent in their own homes through a personal alarm system linked to trained staff. The service provides peace of mind to users and their families, with customers paying a weekly charge for the support they receive.

The reports come after the council announced on its website that the service had reached full capacity and was unable to accept any new referrals while a review is carried out.

Questions have been raised about what would happen if the service was closed - what alternative support would be available for existing users, and whether any proposals would be subject to public discussion or consultation

Concerns have also been raised about the potential impact on staff and the possibility of job losses.

There are also calls for greater transparency around the future of the service. Questions have been raised about whether discussions regarding Carelink's future have taken place behind closed doors and, if so, why any potential proposals have not yet been discussed publicly given the significance of the service to vulnerable residents.

High Peak Borough Council has been asked to comment on these unconfirmed reports. We will update this story as soon as a response is received and further information becomes available.

HPBC have posted a statement about the tree

Work to repair, re-build and re-open the public toilets in Chapel-en-le-Frith market place will start again once a nearby large horse chestnut tree is removed.

We understands residents and businesses are frustrated that these works are taking longer than expected and apologises for the continued disruption and appearance of the building site.

Yesterday I accepted an invitation to join the Friends of CelF Station at the launch of their new booklet.
The Town is lucky to have volunteer groups like this who often operate under the radar.
Anyway the weather was kind and the buffet was fantastic.

“Whilst originally intended to inspire visitors to come and explore our town and the surrounding countryside using the train, it also acts as a good guide to the area for local residents and hopefully inspires people to get out and walk – it’s great for your mental health”

Bowden Lane was visited by the Stevie Wonder branches of Openreach and HPBC / AES Parks and Open Spaces teams on Friday. When the that’ll do culture developed I’m not sure but it’s clearly evident here.
I had asked the cutting team to leave the grass throughout May but alas it didn’t happen. Anyway I spent a couple of leisurely hours tidying up after both yesterday with the help of Richard who was terrific.

Dropping this Riverfly Testing kit off for Dan this morning, who’s doing Zoology and Conservation at University.
A welcome addition to our small team of active Bio Diversity members and I’m looking forward to seeing what he discovers under the surface of our waterways throughout the summer.
So if you have any budding Attenborough’s in your ranks get in touch because this would ignite that spark further and I’ll put you in touch with Sue who is leading this project.
