I can’t believe that tomorrow will have been 9 whole years…. 3285 heartbreaking days without our beautiful Libs….the moment her heart stopped beating on October 11th 2017 at 1.59am, I was certain mine would too.
But on days when I am struggling, it has been Liberty’s Legacy and her selfless wish to raise awareness and find a cure for the beast that is Ewing's, that has been my saviour. Not only has it given me purpose, but it has allowed me to bring Libs into the future with me and share her story. She was such a unique soul and an absolute inspiration to us all….and she continues to be for so many.
So tomorrow, as we remember our beautiful and courageous Liberty Grace on her anniversary, it should probably come as no surprise that we are headed off to London to cheer on 70, yes 70, incredible human beings running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in Liberty’s memory. From some of her closest friends, to those who never had the privilege to meet her, they have stepped up and collectively embraced this challenge. With donations still flooding in, to date they have already raised over £36,500 for vital research!! It’s just incredible and I think even Libs would be rendered speechless!
Libs, you were and are an exceptional and extraordinary daughter, sister and friend. We promise we will keep on fighting to raise awareness and much needed research funds , and honour your wish that no other family be so cruelly ripped apart. You have left a heap of broken hearts behind you and the world will forever feel less bright without your smile, your love and laughter, and your presence. But at the same time, you have left an amazing legacy - one of strength, determination, incredible physical and mental resilience and a shining example of what a human being can do if you put your mind to it. Thank you Liberty for being in our lives and teaching us how to love and live. Thank you for the 14 years of utter joy that you gave us, you will forever be remembered …shine bright baby girl.

Liberty's Legacy is a special fund of the Bone Cancer Research Trust dedicated to raising awareness and crucial funds for life saving research into Ewing Sarcoma, as was Liberty's wish.
