We don't only go to local meetings!! Our deputy chair, Nigel, is speaking to London East branch in Walthamstow tonight on the fire service's response to air raids, etc. in the Great War. Our meeting on Saturday sees Phil Tomaselli making a welcome return to our branch. Starting at 2.30, Phil will be talking on 'MI5 and the struggle against German Espionage'. The venue is The Guide Centre, School Lane, Chalfont St. Giles, and everybody is most welcome. Our photo, with acknowledgement to MI5, is of Carl Hans Lody, AKA Charles A Inglis executed for spying on 6th November 1914, in the Tower of London.

So on Thursday, Ox and Bucks are attending an event at HMP Bullingdon between 12 and 2. However if you're near Reading around 8 in the evening then pop along to hear Alan Wakefield's excellent talk 'Mountains, Mules and Malaria - soldiering with the British Salonika Force 1915/ 1918' at Berkshire County Sports Club, Sonning Lane, RG4-6ST. Thames Valley Branch look forward to welcoming you.

Tomorrow's meeting will start at 2.30 in the Guide Centre, School Lane, Chalfont St Giles when we welcome Dr Anne Sampson who will be talking about 'The Indian Army in East Africa - 1914'. Our picture shows a 10 pounder gun with Indian Army crew.

Saturday's talk will be 'The Italian Front 1915-1918' and our speaker will be Prof. Peter Caddick-Adams. Peter has visited us previously and this is a welcome return. Our meeting starts at 2.30 in the Guide Centre, School Lane, Chalfont St. Giles. Our photo shows Italian troops using a surveying camera.
