BrightStore - a community food project run by and for local people and supported by the Brighton and Hove Food Partnership. It's a very reasonably priced membership scheme which entitles you to access a small shop each week. We operate on a very local basis, currently only in the Hollingdean area, the Conway Court/Cornerstone area of Hove, Mile Oak, and Whitehawk, at the Children's Centre. We are

a solidarity scheme, which means that people can pay more if possible, to support those less able to pay, our ExtraBright price reflects that ethos. We offer high quality, local sourced, affordable food including bread, organic eggs, fruit and vegetables along with other essential items. We are able to support you with ongoing food access issues, and happy to discuss these with you, and help where we are able, we offer funded places, and delivery where there is a need. In return for a very affordable weekly shop, members who sign up to be part of the project are encouraged to get involved in helping to run it. Roles include managing deliveries, working with suppliers and setting up the weekly store.

Whitehawk, such a fantastic opportunity to help your community.

We’re looking for local residents to help shape the future of Whitehawk and play a key part in ensuring that the £20 million Pride in Place investment is put to most effective use for the community 📣

No previous experience in a similar role is needed, full training, guidance and support will be available to make sure everyone can get the maximum out of the roles – and play a crucial role in steering improvements for the community.

The expectation is that the board members will be able to commit to around 2 days a month.
