The Bridge

You are picked up from your home and brought to the centre in one of our disabled accessible minibus by one of our friendly drivers. On arrival you are greeted with a hot drink and biscuits. You have a chance to chat with others, potter around the garden or you can be taken over to Tesco for a small shop. Lunch is served at 12 noon. You get a 2 course freshly cooked meal. After lunch a daily activ

ity is organised. This can be anything from arts & crafts to bird nest making or a sing-a-long with one of guest singers, quizzes, baking, computing or there might be a guest speaker or an information giving session. Monthly trips are organised where you go out for the day. Trips to places like Harlow Carr near Harrogate, Ripon shopping, Millstone near Skipton, Museums, the cinema or even bowling to name but a few. If at the centre, afternoon tea & biscuits are served along with the daily raffle before departure back home. There is a charge of £35 per day for this service

Sitting Service
This is where we arrange a volunteer to come and sit with a love one while the carer gets a well deserved break. Maybe to go shopping, meet with family or friends, go for a hair cut or Dr's/hospital appointment. This can be on a regular basis or and "if and when" system. All volunteers are Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checked and have to attend Safeguarding Adults training. There is a £2 per hour charge for this service

Assisted Shopping Service
Our Assisted Shopping Service runs every Tuesday & Thursday. We use our disabled access minibus to pick people up from their home and take them to Morrisons in Darlington shopping. The driver and support worker are on hand to help you with your shopping from pushing your wheelchair, trolley or walking with you helping you choose the things you want. They even help you pack you shopping bags and put them onto the bus for you. Before your return journey you have a chance to go to the cafe for something to eat and chat with others on the bus. Once home your shopping will be carried into your kitchen. At present we run a 2 weekly cycle. Brompton on Swale, Colburn, Richmond & Gilling West. There is a charge of £4 for this service

Lunch Club
Come along to our New Lunch Club. This is run Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays between 11.45 and 3 pm. You get a 2 course freshly cooked meal and afternoon activities. You have to make your own arrangements to get to and from the centre. Make new friends and enjoy the ever changing activities on offer. There is a £17.50 charge for this service

Shower Service
We offer a shower service for someone who might not be able to shower/bath themselves at home any longer. Telephone for more details

There is a £15 charge for this service

Washing & drying service
If you are a member of St John's Community Centre you can bring in your bed linen or towels to be washed & dried ready for you to take home at the end of the day. There is a charge for this service - please ask for details

Hairdressing
Members are asked to book for this service in advance. There is a charge for this service - please ask for details

Nurse visits
If you require nurse treatment whilst at the centre you can get the nurse to come to the centre and be treated in our Treatment Room
