Named as an area from which the invading Norman encampment could be seen. (Hurst being a saxon word for ‘view’) and being the parkland of Lord Brasseys’ Normanhurst Court, the estate is an ideal location for celebrating country sports and activities and to be able to involve the huge pool of local talent and producers that have too few chances to be visible on their ‘home turf’. It is our intenti

on to provide entertainment in the form of different events which depict the various Game and Country ways whilst at the same time provide an outlet for the businesses and crafts that are the country ways. We therefore intend to hold a 2 day event called '1066 Game and Country Fayre' on the weekend of 16th and 17th August 2014 on the fields next to Catsfield Recreation Ground. We are aiming to attract at least 3000 visitors a day and to do this we are actively seeking sponsorship and run a highly visible advertising campaign. Whilst providing events normally expected in such an event, we are also hopeful to attract acts and events from the more diverse rarer pursuits not normally thought of with country ways such as axe throwing and falconry.
