【One Song 計劃】從香港到 Wakefield：以歌聲編織的生命故事 🎶

我們 9 位移居英國的香港女性，參與了以非英國出生女性為對象的 One Song 計劃。與來自不同文化背景的參加者一起，我們的歌聲與故事將化作聲音與影像裝置，於 The Art House Wakefield 呈現。

我們各自選擇一首能帶自己回到最初稱之為「家」的地方的歌曲，以母語唱頌，並分享歌曲背後的生命故事。

有人以音符紀念最快樂的童年時光；有人感念成長路上的溫暖陪伴；有人把思念與盼望寄託於旋律之中；有人透過城市的集體記憶，尋找彼此連結的力量；也有人藉著音樂，回望時代的傷痕與療癒的旅程。

每一首歌，都是一段生命故事；每一段故事，也映照著我們如何理解「家」。

這是一場關於離散、歸屬、記憶與共鳴的展覽，誠邀你來聆聽我們的故事。

【One Song Project】From Hong Kong to Wakefield: Life Stories Woven Through Song 🎶

We are 9 Hong Kong women now living in the UK, taking part in the One Song project, created for women born outside the UK. Together with participants from different cultural backgrounds, our voices and stories are being transformed into a sound and visual installation, presented at The Art House Wakefield.

Each of us chose a song that can take us back to the place we first called “home”, singing in our mother tongue and sharing the life stories behind it.

Some songs hold memories of the happiest childhood moments; some reflect warmth and care experienced during times of growth; some carry longing and hope for people and places left behind; some are rooted in the collective memory of a city, becoming a source of connection and comfort across distance; others trace personal journeys of healing, identity, and resilience after collective or societal challenges.

Each song is a life story; each story reflects how we understand “home”.

This is an exhibition about displacement, belonging, memory, and resonance. You are warmly invited to listen to our stories.

🌿🦡 Waterton’s Wall Walk for HongKongers Successfully Concluded! 圓滿結束！ 🦤🌳 (English available below)

上星期六我們同大家一起走進了 Waterton Park，認識了全球首位環保先驅 Charles Waterton！他雖然行事作風獨特，但其打破社會階級、無私向大眾開放莊園的遠見，確實令人深感敬佩。

這座莊園在歷史上大有來頭，被英國官方（Historic England）認證為「全球第一個現代自然保護區的雛形」。早在 19 世紀周邊煤礦業與工業興起之時，Waterton 先生就前瞻性地推行了全新管理制度—他在築巢季節禁止獵犬進入、禁止射擊，並地向公眾、基層勞工以至精神病患免費開放這片綠洲，讓人在大自然中得到身心治癒。

Last Saturday, we explored Waterton Park together and learned about Charles Waterton, the world’s first environmentalist! While known for his eccentricities, his forward-thinking vision to break down social barriers and open his estate to the public is truly inspiring.

This estate holds a significant place in history, recognized by Historic England as the "prototype for the modern nature reserve." In the 19th century, amidst the surrounding industrial boom, Mr. Waterton pioneered a unique management regime—banning hunting hounds and shooting during nesting seasons. He also generously opened this peaceful oasis for free to the public, working-class laborers, and even mental asylum patients for healing and connection with nature.

One Song 隨筆｜望進彼此的眼睛 — Human Connection

我們參與了以非英國出生的女性為對象的 One Song 計劃。每人選一首能連結我們最初稱之為家的歌曲。

在上星期最後一次 One Song 工作坊，我們在正式錄影前加緊練習。在二人相對的練習中，我們輪流歌唱。藝術家和聲樂教練要我們在唱的時候只望著對方的眼睛。 眼眸相連，我們不只把各自的故事透過歌聲傳遞，同時也像一種人性的連結。那是一種深刻的經驗，即使語言和文化不同，但我們仍能在彼此的靈魂之窗，看見某種共同的情感。

在圍圈總結和分享時，一向樂天開朗的參與者提問：如何在錄影時控制情緒，不流淚。原來她在雙人練習時，唱著唱著就不自覺流了淚。我認為那是一種人性真誠相連的結果。

連結，本身就是理解的開始。

6月19日，聲音與影像裝置展覽將會開放，歡迎大家來看見與聽見我們的故事。

One Song Reflection | Human Connection

We took part in the One Song Project for women born outside the UK, where each participant chose a song connecting them to the place they first called home.

During our final workshop last week, we practiced intensely before recording. In a paired exercise, the artist and the vocal coach asked us to maintain eye contact while singing to each other. As our eyes met, we weren’t just sharing stories—we were truly connecting. It was a deeply moving experience; despite different languages and cultures, we saw a shared emotion through the windows to the soul.

During our group reflection, a usually cheerful participant asked how to hold back tears during the official recording, admitting she had cried during the exercise. To me, that vulnerability was the beautiful result of an authentic human connection.

Connection is the very beginning of understanding.

Our sound and video installation opens on June 19th at The Art House Wakefield . We warmly welcome you to come experience our stories.

【 One Song：Human power 】

今日係One Song 第二次 workshop。一班非英國出生的女性一步步以歌曲展現與出生地有關的故事。

今日在vocal coach Hannah 帶領下，大家用10分鐘就能以簡單的歌詞旋律分聲部合唱，除咗開心好玩，人聲交錯呈現出一種純粹的連結，是人與人之間最原始的互動與共鳴，亦是一種 human power 的展現。

而家距離正式錄影唔夠一個月，兩個月後更會喺 The Art House 展出，到時見 ✨

Today was the second One Song workshop . A group of women born outside the UK are sharing stories of their origins through music.

Guided by vocal coach Hannah, we created a simple choral piece in just 10 minutes—layered voices forming something joyful and deeply human, a pure connection and shared resonance.

With less than a month until recording, and an exhibition at The Art House in two months—see you there ✨

Grateful to artist for initiating such a beautiful project.💖

We’ve turned this nostalgic Hong Kong game into a big, open drawing “battlefield” for children to explore freely.

Through play, children naturally develop:

✏️ Motor skills & spatial awareness - Big drawing spaces help build control and visual organisation.
