Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 1 September 2026 held their weekly sale of 2058 Prime and Cast sheep.
1742 lambs sold to average 316ppk

Top today was £200 for heavy Texels from Messrs Sturgess, Cullinaw and 351.2ppk for Texels from both Messrs Smith, Ingleston and also Messrs Grierson, Sandfield.

316 Cast sheep sold to a top of £250 Texel ewes from Messrs Smith, Low Arkland with Scotch Mules to £190 from Grove Farm Partnership.

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited Monday 31st August 2026 continued their Scotch Mule sales when they sold 5669 ewe lambs.

At the pre-sale show, sponsored by Solway Agriculture, the Judge Matt Ross awarded the Champion pen of 40 to Messrs Lockhart, Culdoach which sold to £282 and the Champion pen of 20 to Messrs McKie, Finniness which sold to £288 with the Judge backing his decisions and buying both pens. Reserve in the pen of 40 section went to Messrs Brown, Macqueston with Ryan Fergusson, Barlaes Farmhouse reserve with his pen of 20.

The whole sale averaged £196.37 (-£20.58).

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas on Saturday 29th August 2026 held their annual sale of Scotch Mule gimmers and AOB Gimmers
At our annual show we must thank Messrs Owen, Dan-Y-Bryn, Llyswen for judging and also to sponsors Solway Agriculture. Champion pen today was a pen from M J Ross, Birchwood which made the top price of £325 with Reserve going to Messrs McKie, Finniness. AOB champion was Messrs Kirk, Hall of Drumpark with a pen of Texels which sold to £260.
Overall 2077 Scotch Mule Gimmers averaged £261.73 (-£21.15) on the year for 121 more sold. 423 Other breed gimmers sold well topping at £340 for Texels from Mitch Williamson, Breckoniehill.
