Threave Girls Football Mini Festival – What a fantastic day! ⚽️💖

A huge well done to everyone who came along to Birkland Road in Castle Douglas today for our Threave Rovers U8 Girls Mini Footbalk festival!
We were delighted to welcomeHeston Rovers Football Club Girls, Soccer Bees, Galloway Thistle Youth Football Club Sc045742 and Millennium FC for a brilliant day of football.
Each team played 7 x 10-minute matches, and the standard of football on show was excellent!
The weather mostly held off, with just a light shower near the end, but nothing could dampen the spirits. It was absolutely brilliant to see so many young girls out there playing with skill, smiles, and real passion. A fantastic advert for the girls’ game!
A massive thank you to all the coaches and teams for making the day so enjoyable and positive.

Threave Rovers youth Development needs more committee members and/or volunteers to get involved to keep the club running.

We have over 200 kids currently involved, but are struggling to have enough committee members to keep the club running.

No football knowledge is needed, but we do need people to get involved to help driving the club forward.

𝟑𝐆 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | 🥅

We announced back in January that we had been successful in our application for the Pitching In Fund, supported by the UK Government. Funding was also supported by The Holywood Trust, The Scottish Football Partnership Trust and local funds.

As shown in the aerial photo taken last weekend, work on our new 3G facility is progressing well and is due to be completed within the next two months.

Once completed, the facility will benefit not just the club, but the whole community ⚽️

U14 Match Report

Last Saturday, the U14s made the trip to Langholm with the bare 11 players, knowing they were in for a tough afternoon against a strong home side. From the first whistle, both teams looked determined to start on the front foot, making for an exciting and highly competitive contest.
It was Threave who struck first after some determined pressing forced a mix-up in the Langholm defence, allowing the girls to capitalise and take an early lead. Despite the positive start, Langholm responded well, creating several good chances and showing real quality in front of goal to turn the game around before the break.

HT�Langholm 2 – 1 Threave

A tactical reshuffle at half-time saw the girls come out battling hard to get themselves back into the match. However, a slice of misfortune saw an attempted clearance ricochet back off a defender and fly into the net before anyone could react, giving the hosts a two-goal advantage.
With no substitutes available and plenty of hard work already put into the game, the girls continued to battle right until the final whistle against a well-organised Langholm side, but eventually the effort began to take its toll.

A hard-fought and competitive match throughout, with plenty of positives for the girls to take away despite the result. A huge thank you to the Langholm Girls Football Club coaches, players, and parents for the warm welcome and excellent hospitality on the day. We look forward to welcoming you for the return fixture later in the year.

Attention now turns to cup action this week, as the girls travel to Hamilton to face Blantyre Celtic in the quarter-finals. The squad will be hoping to put in another strong performance and keep their cup run alive.

Threave U12 Girls, Langholm Football Festival Report ⚽
A fantastic day yesterday (Sunday 10th) at the Langholm Football Festival held at Eskdale Sports Centre!

Our Threave U12s joined teams from Heston, Langholm, Annan and Soccerbees for a brilliant day of girls’ football. The girls played really well overall — they handled some really tough, competitive games where they were properly tested and delivered some excellent performances with some good goals, lovely passing moves, and some standout moments. Special mention to Vhairi, who stepped up from the U10s and produced some excellent goalkeeping!
Huge thanks to Stix and the whole Langholm Girls Football Club team for hosting such an enjoyable, well-run day. We really appreciated the warm welcome and hope to return the favour and host them at Threave very soon!

Double visit for Threave teams to Langholm this weekend ⚽️

First up on Saturday is our u14 as they make a start to their League campaign. Girls will be traveling with confidence having made a positive start to the year in the grading games, hoping to take this into the league.

On Sunday our u12/10 will be joined by some other local teams to play some 7v7 friendly matches. Teams from Heston, Soccerbees, Langholm and Threave getting some game time. Great to see many local girls teams playing.

Thursday with the sun shining we took the opportunity to get a photo of some of the u14 girls with their new Training Tops and the man himself from Grierson Bros Tom.

Tom helps coach and sponsors the u14 team. This year he has bought the girls new training tops as well as shorts and socks for games.

🌟 Threave Girls Shine at the Morton Thistle Festival! 🌟

What a fantastic day of football at Wallace Hall in Thornhill on Sunday 19th April!
12 teams entered the festival, and our girls played 5 matches in total. Our opponents in these matches were -
Galloway Thistle
Morton Thistle
Soccerbees
Hawick
Kilwinning Rangers

The weather held out perfectly, and the girls absolutely smashed it! Every single player contributed to some outstanding performances throughout the day. We saw plenty of goals, some lovely passing football, solid tackling, and most importantly — lots of big smiles on faces! 😄
Well done girls!
