5 Good Things in June 🩷

We’ve survived the heatwave and June is bringing a lovely mix of gatherings, creativity and community events popping up across Cary and beyond. Here are just 5 of the MANY Good Things happening in and around town …

🛍️ at - 6th June, 10am–3pm
A lovely wander through textiles, treasures and vintage finds on the cobbles.

🌻 Sunflower Plate Painting at The Shambles, The Market House - 11th June, 6.30–8.30pm
A gentle creative evening hosted by full of sunflowers and good company inspired by Cary in Bloom.

🍷 Call my Wine Bluff with at The Market House - 12th June, 7–9.30pm
A fun fundraising evening for Cary Carnival with wine, local laughter and a little bit of bluffing.

🎶 Opera in the Orchard at Wyke House with - 13th June, 6–10pm
A magical summer evening of music, picnics and opera under the open sky.

🇬🇷 Greek Night - 26th June
A summery evening of great hospitality and something a little different.

Plus …
🌿 we’ve got everything from Dawn Walks at to roller skating and Floral Workshops with Tracey .
🖍️ for local businesses we’ve got a Commerce Social at Burnt Honey on 4th, and for anyone with an eye on the future there’s a Wills and Estate Planning drop-in on 9th June with , and the inaugural Woven Woman circle with on 12th June.
🌻 June also brings live bluegrass with on 13th June, plus the Cary in Bloom Exhibition from 29th June as the town starts to turn sunflower bright.

Aren’t they looking glorious? 💛🌼

The hanging baskets are back, bringing a little extra sunshine to every corner of Castle Cary.

Part of ‘Paint the Town Yellow’, the campaign behind Cary in Bloom and the Sew, Grow, Bloom Festival, these cheerful displays have become one of the things that makes summer in Cary feel distinctly … Cary. It’s one of those projects that quietly makes a big difference. They add charm, colour and sense of pride that make our market town such a special place - brightening our streets, lifting the town centre and giving residents and visitors a wonderful welcome.

A huge thank you to Zoe and for sponsoring the baskets this year. We’re also grateful to Castle Cary Town Council for supporting the watering throughout the season, and to Three Counties Landscaping, who have grown, installed and will care for the baskets over the months ahead.

Projects like this don’t happen by accident. They are the result of local organisations, businesses and individuals investing in the place we all call home.

We’re grateful that so many people continue to get behind Cary in Bloom each year, and we’re hopeful these golden displays will once again help Castle Cary shine in this year’s regional and national Britain in Bloom competitions bringing valuable recognition and coverage for our town.

5 Good Things in May 🧡

May, we’re ready for you! With long evenings and lots of reasons to get outside here’s just 5 (well 6) of the MANY Good Things we’ve got going on …

☕ Introducing FLOC for SEND .for.send - 8th May, 10:00–12:00. A welcoming space for parents and carers of kids with SEND to connect over coffee & conversation.

🌞 BONUS Somerset Day Sundowners , Castle Cary - 8th May, 18:00–20:00. A relaxed evening on the cobbles with good food, drinks and familiar faces to start the weekend.

🌸 The Great Garden Show at - 9th–17th May. A beautiful celebration of gardens, ideas and inspiration set in stunning surroundings.

🌱 Wild Garden Plant Sales & Refreshments Kale Barn, Galhampton - 16th May, 10:00–13:00. Browse plants, enjoy the garden and get some top veg gardening tips from Tia!

🎼 Dave Saunders & Harry Skinner at - 17th May, 16:00–18:00. A laid-back afternoon of live music with acoustic sets and familiar favourites.

🐄 Royal Bath & West Show Showground - 28th–30th May. Three lively days of farming, food, music and family fun so much to eat, explore and enjoy.

Don’t forget…
There’s open-air gatherings, volunteer opportunities and lots of open gardens plus weekly padel intro sessions, Zumba classes and family swim sessions.

🖍️ Families 👀 out for on the 4th, Roller Skating Club, pottery painting with , choir meet-ups, Wild Tots at and hands-on sessions like the Repair Café at the end of the month. And 🚗🧽 the Charity Car Wash to cheer on the wonderful Castle Cary Cygnets on the 23rd.
🍷 Not forgetting secret final Friday of the month speakeasy at the back of !
