Since the new story about the foodbank featured on BBC Points West and the radio yesterday, we have had a number of enquiries about which items are needed to best support the larder over the summer. If you can donate, the larder would particularly benefit from the items below. Thank you to those whose first reaction is one of compassion and help.
To make it very clear where the trustees of Cary Cares stand on supporting people across Castle Cary and Ansford:
1) We believe that many people go through times of difficulty and Cary Cares has always existed to provide support when it is needed.
2) We believe in the dignity of, and respect for, each person who uses our facilities and services. Often, stepping foot into a food bank or asking for help, is the biggest step of all. We do not apply labels or critique, but offer a hand to anyone who is struggling.
3) We believe in the power of community to help support and change lives for the better. In addition to food bank support through the larder, we also offer signposting support to help people access services, guidance and information.
Please, if you are able to show a helping hand, support us by donating to the larder, or simply keep a neighbourly eye on those who may be struggling. Together, as a community, we can make sure that no one goes hungry in Castle Cary and Ansford.
If you are able to donate, you can drop items into the larder any time it is open (Tuesdays and Thursdays 9.30-10 and 3-4 and Saturdays 9.30-11). If you would prefer to make a financial donation to support our work, you can do so via the website at www.carycares.org.uk - just click the donate button and choose how you would like to donate...
Thank you.
