🎉 Fantastic News for Carryduff! ⚽️
Killynure Community Association is delighted to announce that we have successfully secured funding for a brand new 4G training pitch — a huge step forward not only for our local community but also the future generations of players.
While there are still a few stages to go through to finalise this project, this funding represents a major milestone and brings us significantly closer to making this facility a reality.
We would like to sincerely thank the main funders, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and Choice Housing Ltd, whose support has been fundamental in getting this project to this stage.
Our project would not have been possible without the support of Carryduff Primary School, Education Authority and our local representatives, Councillors and MLAs, each of whom have backed this initiative from the outset.
We would like to pay special thanks to Councillor Brian Higginson and Edwin Poots MLA, who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help make this vision a reality. Their dedication and commitment to the community has made a real difference.
We’re excited for what lies ahead and look forward to sharing updates as we move through the next stages 💙⚽️
🎉 £470,000 Secured for New 3G Pitch in Carryduff 🎉
💷 I am delighted to confirm that £470,000 has been secured from Council to support the delivery of the new football pitch and associated facilities at Carryduff Primary School and Killynure Community Association.
🤝 The DUP has been working closely with Killynure Community Association and Carryduff Primary School over a sustained period to help move this project forward and ensure it remained a priority for investment.
🏟️ This is a really positive step for Carryduff and a much welcome investment for both the school and the wider local community.
🏛️ I want to place on record my sincere thanks to local MLA Edwin Poots MLA , who has been a strong and consistent supporter of this project. Edwin worked closely with me to reinforce the case for funding and helped ensure this project had the backing it needed at a wider level. His involvement has been invaluable.
⏱️ On a personal note, I have spent countless hours working to get this project delivered, engaging with the school, Killynure Community Association, the EA, CHOICE Housing, Council officers, and colleagues to help turn a community vision into something that can now move towards reality.
👏 I want to recognise the infatigable efforts of Aaron Thompson and the entire committee of Killynure Community Association. Their vision, determination, and tireless voluntary commitment have been the driving force behind this project. Without them, this simply would not have got to this stage.
🧑💼 I also want to sincerely thank Council officers for their professionalism, support, and constructive engagement throughout the process.
🏠 This Council investment will be paired with funding already awarded from CHOICE Housing, strengthening the overall scheme and helping to deliver high quality facilities for the area.
⚽ Once complete, this project will provide a fantastic long term asset for pupils, families, and local groups, helping to secure the future of the school. It also complements the wider ambitions of Killynure Community Association, including the Men’s Shed initiative and the development of a broader health and wellbeing hub.
🌱 While there are still a few final details to work through, it is great to have reached this stage, and I am genuinely thankful to everyone involved for getting us here. I’m really looking forward to seeing this project come to life.
