Carmen Community Initiative was formed to bring the town and the wider community together for holiday celebrations, community events, initiative's and ways of supporting our community. Est in 2021, Carmen Community Initiative was developed from the idea of coming together to take action on what's important to our area. This includes promoting the engagement of the local & wider community through

creating, enhancing and developing a broad range of all age, abilities & socially diverse activities. Working along side our local athletic, community, spiritual & voluntary organisations/associations to make our village a more attractive, socially & culturally inclusive and a healthier place to reside and work in.

AGM

The 2026 CCI AGM will be held on Wednesday 11th February.

7-8pm upstairs in The Charm Inn

All are welcome

To ensure the continuation of our well known community events, it is essential that we have more members join to give an hour of their time per month to share ideas for future projects and offer help on the day of a few of our events.

Your support is appreciated.

CCI join our community in expressing our heartfelt condolences to the McDonald/Conway families and friends of Padraig McDonald for their sudden loss.

Padraig is the son of Paddy and Kerry McDonald, brother of Pearse, Hanna, Shan and Daithí, grandson of Margaret Conway and the late Pat Conway R.I.P. and Paddy McDonald and the late Anne McDonald R.I.P.

He was a past Loch Mhic Ruairi CLG player with a deep family connection to the club and the community.

Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine" (People live in each other's shadows)

We are all interconnected. During this time of sorrow, may we offer mutual support, shelter and strength to one another whilst navigating this community bereavement and loss of a loved one. May we share our humanity, vulnerability and human need to look after each other. May we shield and protect each other from adversity through our presence and interdependence.

May we all emphasise the importance of community support and solidarity during this time of sadness and may we all come together and be a reminder to each other that no one is expected to go through life's challenges alone.

The funeral will take place Monday morning with the wake at Padraig's home 12pm - 10pm Saturday & Sunday. Those wishing to pay their respects should park at Loughmacrory chapel car park where buses will bring you across and back.

D’imigh tu i mblath na hóige, ar Sholas na bhFlaitheas go raibh do anam geal
(You departed in the bloom of youth, may your pure soul be granted the Light of Heaven)

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
