Drala Jong is a place where human beings can discover the pleasure of existence – the pleasure that animates the sense fields and revitalises the Arts – and the art of living. Drala Jong སྒྲ་བླ་ལྗོས་ retreat centre project was initiated at the direction and inspiration of Kyabjé Düd’jom Rinpoche, Jigrel Yeshé Dorje and Kyabjé Künzang Dorje Rinpoche. Drala Jong is the home of the Aro gTér Tradition
—— a small family-based Dzogchen lineage within the Nyingma Vajrayana Tradition. Drala Jong exists innately in human beings.
‘Drala’ is the appreciative faculty which enlivens people exponentially as they begin to engage more openly with the phenomenal world. When we learn to appreciate phenomena our sense fields ‘jong’ begin to sparkle and a sense of generosity is born, connecting us more dynamically ‘drala’ with others. Although Vajrayana is by no means unknown in the West, the sense in which enjoyment and compassion are mutually interdependent remains unexpressed. Drala Jong is a place where human beings can discover the open-ended pleasure of existence – the authentic pleasure which animates the sense fields, revitalises the Arts and the art of living, and creates a better world for Everyone & Everything, Everywhere. Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen 13th of September 2006, Penarth, Wales
