Meet Dogs4Wildlife Vega and Kuda.

In just a few weeks' time these two incredible dogs will begin a new chapter as part of a specialist conservation K9 unit being deployed into Matusadona National Park, Zimbabwe.

Working in partnership with African Parks, Zimparks and the Matusadona Conservation Trust (MCT), Dogs4Wildlife has been tasked with helping establish and develop a conservation dog programme that we hope will set the benchmark for future K9 conservation capability across Zimbabwe.

Vega and Kuda have been developed as specialist human scent tracking dogs and will form part of a five-dog unit operating within one of Africa's most diverse and challenging conservation landscapes.

The remaining three dogs have come through an equally inspiring journey.

Working alongside our friends at THE FRIEND ANIMAL FOUNDATION in Harare, Zimbabwe, we have selected and helped develop three rescue dogs that will also join the unit. Seeing rescue dogs given the opportunity to directly contribute towards wildlife conservation is something we are incredibly proud to be part of.

Their deployment comes at a particularly important time for Matusadona National Park following the recent reintroduction of Black Rhino, a species that had been absent from the park since the 1990s due to poaching. The protection of these animals, alongside the park's wider wildlife populations, requires committed ranger teams, innovative conservation strategies and sustainable long-term capability.

For Dogs4Wildlife, this project has never been simply about supplying dogs.

It is about developing best practise standards.

It is about building capability.

It is about sharing knowledge.

Most importantly, it is about creating a sustainable conservation K9 programme that can continue protecting wildlife for years to come.

Together with MCT, African Parks and ZimParks, Dogs4Wildlife have been entrusted with helping shape the future of conservation dog deployment within the park.

Through the development of the dogs, handlers, training systems, welfare standards and operational capability, we hope to create a model that demonstrates what can be achieved when conservation dogs are developed and deployed to the highest standards.

We are incredibly excited to see Vega and Kuda take the next step in their journey and equally excited to work alongside the dedicated teams at Matusadona, African Parks, ZimParks, MCT and Friend Animal Foundation to showcase what conservation dogs can achieve in the protection and conservation of wildlife.

🌍 CONNECTING CHILDREN WITH NATURE. CREATING CONSERVATION CHAMPIONS.

Imagine living beside a wildlife reserve your entire life, yet never having the opportunity to see the wildlife that lives within it.

For many children in rural African communities, this is a reality.

Last week, thanks to the incredible support of Nombekana Safaris and Wildlife Photography and Mfundo on Safari, a group of children were given the opportunity to visit Kruger National Park as part of the Siyafunda Ngemvelo ("Learning Through Nature") project, a joint initiative between Dogs4Wildlife and Connected Planet.

For some of these children, this was their first time entering a wildlife reserve.

Their first time seeing elephants in the wild.

Their first time experiencing the sights, sounds and wonder of Africa's natural heritage.

These are the same children who grow up alongside conservation areas, yet many have never had the opportunity to experience the wildlife their communities help protect.

Through educational visits, guided wildlife experiences and conservation learning opportunities, Siyafunda Ngemvelo is helping to bridge that gap.

By removing barriers to access and creating unforgettable experiences, we are helping young people develop a personal connection with nature and understand the importance of protecting it.

Because conservation begins with connection.

When children experience wildlife for themselves, they become the future custodians of the natural world.

💚 Today they saw elephants, giraffe and hippo.

💚 Tomorrow they could become conservationists, rangers, researchers, wildlife photographers and environmental leaders.

A huge thank you to Nombekana Safaris and Wildlife Photography and Mfundo on Safari for making this unforgettable experience possible.

Every donation helps provide:

✅ Transport to wildlife reserves

✅ Educational resources

✅ Meals and refreshments

✅ Guided conservation experiences

✅ Opportunities that many children would otherwise never receive

Together, we can inspire the next generation to protect Africa's wildlife heritage.

DONATE TODAY and help us create more conservation champions.

🌍 FESTIVAL OF CHANGE AT DUDLEY ZOO 🌍

This weekend, Dogs4Wildlife was honoured to attend the Festival of Change at Dudley Zoo, an inspiring event dedicated to encouraging people to take small but meaningful actions that contribute to a better future for wildlife, communities and the places we call home.

We were especially proud to be joined by our Young Wildlife Ambassador, Paige Bavin, who was selected as one of Dudley Zoo's Wildlife Champions through the support of the Richardson Brothers Foundation.

Watching Paige stand in front of an audience and speak passionately about conservation was a proud moment for everyone at Dogs4Wildlife. Young people are not only the future of conservation—they are already making a difference today.

Alongside Paige's presentation, we shared the work Dogs4Wildlife is undertaking across the UK and Africa, supporting conservation, education and community engagement through our projects and partnerships.

The atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic, with visitors of all ages stopping to learn more about wildlife conservation and how they can play their part in protecting our natural world.

Of course, our Canine Ambassador Rocket was a huge hit with everyone he met! From young children to adults, Rocket attracted attention wherever he went and helped start countless conversations about wildlife, conservation and the important role animals play in connecting people with nature.

Animals have a unique ability to bring people together, break down barriers and inspire meaningful conversations.

A huge thank you to Dudley Zoo and Castle, the Richardson Brothers Foundation, the event organisers, staff, volunteers and everyone who stopped to chat with us throughout the day.

Events like the Festival of Change remind us that conservation is not just about protecting wildlife.

It is about inspiring people.

It is about empowering communities.

And it is about giving young people like Paige the confidence and opportunity to become the conservation champions of tomorrow.

💚 CANINE – CONSERVATION – COMMUNITY 💚

The future of conservation is in safe hands.

You don’t need to see the whole staircase to take the first step. Because that one step? It matters.

We need your help!

ADOPT A SPECIALIST CONSERVATION DOG & HELP SAVE WILDLIFE BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.

www.dogs4wildlife.org/adopt-a-dog/

Right now, across Southern Africa, endangered wildlife is under constant threat from poachers. Every day matters. Every patrol matters. Every dog matters.

By adopting one of our specialist conservation dogs, YOU directly support the dogs and rangers risking their lives on the front line to protect rhinos, elephants, and other vulnerable species from wildlife crime.

🚨 Without urgent support, anti-poaching teams cannot expand their operations fast enough to meet the growing threat.

Your adoption helps fund:

✔️Specialist anti-poaching dog training
✔️Life-saving patrol operations
✔️Ranger support and equipment
✔️Veterinary care and protection for our dogs
✔️Detection and tracking operations that stop poachers before animals are killed

Over 15 Dogs 4 Wildlife specialist dogs have already been deployed into reserves devastated by poaching and in some areas where they operate, poaching has fallen by up to 75%.

Our highly trained dogs can:

👉🏼 Track poachers by scent
👉🏼 Detect hidden snares used to kill wildlife
👉🏼 Locate illegal wildlife contraband transported by traffickers

This is more than an adoption.
This is your chance to stand on the front line of conservation and help protect endangered species from extinction.

A dog can’t do this work without support behind them. A ranger can’t patrol without resources.
Wildlife can’t wait.

Adopt a conservation dog today and become part of the fight to defend the wild.

🔬BREAKTHROUGH FOR PANGOLIN PROTECTION.

Scientists have developed a powerful new DNA tracking system that can trace trafficked pangolins back to the exact forests they were taken from.

This groundbreaking tool could help conservationists and law enforcement identify poaching hotspots, dismantle trafficking networks, and strengthen protection for one of the world’s most heavily trafficked mammals-the pangolin. 🛑
