🇬🇧 An Inspiring Evening at 2420 (Whitland) Squadron 🇬🇧

It was fantastic to welcome Lt Col (Retd) Manny Manfred as a guest speaker at 2420 (Whitland) Squadron.

Manny delivered an insightful and inspiring presentation to cadets from 621 (Carmarthen) Squadron and 2420 (Whitland) Squadron, sharing his first-hand experiences of the Falklands War and Operation Corporate, from 2 April to 14 June 1982.

Serving as Platoon Sergeant, 1 Platoon, A Company, 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (3 PARA), Manny gave the cadets a fascinating insight into his experiences during the conflict, bringing history to life through his personal stories and recollections.

At the end of the presentation, Manny presented Sgt Donnelly with a signed copy of James O’Connell’s excellent book, 3 Days in June – The Battle for Mount Longdon, in which Manny is mentioned.

A huge thank you to Manny for taking the time to share his experiences with the next generation of cadets. 🇬🇧👏

A fantastic day in Carmarthen as the 2026 Mayor’s 5k Fun Run took place today. The event was run by Cyngor Tref Caerfyrddin - Carmarthen Town Council and Healthy Life Activities, around 900 athletes took place across two categories: 5K Fun Race and Children’s Race, and around 1000 spectators watched as the athletes raced to finish the line.

Many thanks to CI Sutcliffe and cadets from 2420 (Whitland & District) Sqn. ATC who supported the event with cadets from 621 (Carmarthen) Sqn. Together, we supported the event in providing water to hydrate the athletes, provide medals to the Mayor of Carmarthen to present to athletes, and to marshall the event.

A massive thanks to 2420 (Whitland) Sqn and to the event organisers for allowing us to support the event, it was a great day and well done to all the athletes who competed today.

Recently Sgt Donnelly, Officer in Charge 621 (Carmarthen) Sqn, No 3 Welsh Wing attended the Combined Initial Course 9/26 at RAF Cranwell, RAFAC Command and Leadership School. The course content provided skill development and assessments on drill, leadership, teamwork, a talk with Commandant RAFAC, and uniform preparation. Sgt Donnelly throughly enjoyed his time and is looking forward to putting his training into the development of the squadron.
