Friday 16th January sees speaker John Farnan joining us with his talk 'Floating about with A Camera' which should be another interesting evening. John is based in the Glasgow area. He is a traditional photographer now working 100% with film, this hasn't always been the case so his portfolio is a mixture of film and digital images. He has a purpose built, handcrafted darkroom set up for traditional silver gelatin prints. His chosen mediums are 35mm, medium format and large format. He has a particular interest in panoramic images and pinhole photography. John photographs a variety of subject matter but predominantly urban and landscape subjects. John is looking for donations of any type of cameras that are no longer needed so dig into the backs of your cupboards and bring along anything unwanted, even if it is not working. Friday is also the Hand-In for the 4th Club Championship Competition, and the medium is Digital File. New members welcome!

Friday 9th January saw the Club return to it's usual Friday evening meeting following the festive season break. We were back with one of our own photographers Cameron Scott with his fascinating presentation on Documentary Photography, which took as from his early interest in this rare genre within Club photography. Much of the photography on show was taken in Glasgow or Edinburgh, and documented much of the protests and unrests since the pandemic, but also a few celebrations! The end result appearing in picture libraries, specialist publications, social media sites or exhibitions. Cammy has also documented much of the work that the medical charity Glasgow Street Aid does glasgowstreetaid.org

We were shown a wide variety of species, the excellent images were captured both within Scotland and further afield in all weather conditions. Clare demonstrated a great understanding of the subjects and stressed the importance of considering the subjects wellbeing when photographing them. Clare is also involved with Argaty Kites near Doune, and recommended a visit to our members.
Friday 5th December sees us with another guest speaker, Alastair Swan from Ayr PS, with his talk ‘To Infinity and Beyond’, it should be an entertaining evening. The format for the evening is Audio Visual presentations, which for anyone who hasn't seen them before, is photos sequenced to music. Alastair's have been highly entertaining in the past so we are looking forward to his visit.
Friday 12th December is our Annual Fun Evening and hospitality as the Club breaks after this for the festive period. We are back on the 9th January with Cameron Scott, one of our own members with 'Documentary Photography' more to follow on this later.

On Friday (7th Nov) we hosted visiting speaker Peter Ormsby from Eastwood Photographic Society with his presentation “Home and Away Wildlife”. Peter presented some excellent photography through the whole of the evening, from more familiar to those less familiar birds and mammals. He explained the ‘Home’ hide setup that he used and how he studied the behaviour of the creatures and adapted his setup to accommodate that. His vole pictures particularly really stood out due to this approach. Taking his approach to other areas throughout Scotland and Abroad, Peter explained how his approach evolved to suit what was available to photograph. All in all an excellent evening of photography and helpful tips.

Friday (14th Nov) we host what promises to be another excellent evening with speaker Charlie Moore again from Eastwood visiting us with his fascinating presentation on “Underwater Photography”. Visitors are most welcome.
