Our regular training session took us to the River Eden last night, giving the team another valuable opportunity to develop and maintain the skills that help keep us ready for when the call comes.

Regular training plays a vital role in ensuring our volunteers remain prepared to operate safely and effectively in a range of environments and conditions. Sessions like this allow us to practise techniques, strengthen teamwork, and build confidence through realistic scenarios.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who continue to give up their time week after week to train and stay operational.

⚠️ Please stay safe around the water this summer. ⚠️
The recent hot weather has been amazing, but it has also brought a devastating reality to our communities. During this latest hot spell, 17 young people have needlessly lost their lives in cold water incidents.
It is incredibly easy to underestimate open water. Even when the air feels boiling hot, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and quarries stay freezing cold.
When you jump in, your body can instantly go into Cold Water Shock. This causes an immediate gasp for air, meaning you inhale water straight into your lungs, making it impossible to swim. Below the surface, there are also hidden currents, sudden drops, and weeds that can trap even the strongest swimmers.
Enjoy the sunshine, but please look out for each other and make smart choices. A quick swim to cool off is never worth your life.
If you ever get into trouble in the water, remember: FLOAT TO LIVE.
Lean back, extend your arms and legs, gently move them to stay afloat, and control your breathing until help arrives.
Please share this post to help protect your friends and family. Let's make sure no more families have to go through this heartbreak.
