This weekend, cadets joined Veterans to commemorate the Battle of Fontenoy 1745.

The weekend consisted of Drill Training and testing, culminating in a Parade from the Castle to the Cathedral alongside Veterans, remembering the courage and sacrifice of those who served.

Colonel Locke inspected the cadets and veterans with pride and appreciation for their dedication, service, and continued commitment. A fitting tribute to the spirit of comradeship and tradition that makes Fontenoy Weekend so special.

In 1744, the 34th Regiment joined the army of the Duke of Cumberland during the War of Austrian Succession. At the Battle of Fontenoy in 1745, the 34th formed part of the rear guard, helping ensure the orderly withdrawal of the British Army under intense pressure.

A proud opportunity for cadets to honour regimental history, tradition and service.

✨ Annual Lord Lieutenant Cup Results ✨

Cadets from across the county battled it out to be named the winners of the Lord Lieutenant’s cup and this year's winner was Waterloo 3 - Congratulations 🏆

We would like to thank the Lord Lieutenant for attending to support the competition and present the awards.

It was a chance for the cadets to put their training to the test after a year of hard-work. They took part Drill, Shooting and much more. Their hard work and commitment has certainly paid off, and it was great to see their achievements being recognised at such a high level.

Individual Stand Winners:

✨DCCT: Waterloo 3
✨Tactical Movement: Egypt 2
✨Observation: Waterloo 2
✨Patrolling: Egypt 1
✨CasSim: Egypt 3
✨Hasty Harbour: Waterloo 2
✨Quiz: Waterloo 1
✨Orienteering: Waterloo 3
✨Drill: Waterloo 1

The standard across all teams was very impressive and reflects the hard work taking place across the county week in, week out.

In a slight twist to proceedings, the Commandant is hoping to field a team of CFAVs in next year's competition.

He said: "I am sure it would be an excellent opportunity for our CFAVs to demonstrate experience, leadership and composure under pressure. Or alternatively to provide the cadets with the unforgettable joy of decisively defeating their instructors across multiple stands and then mentioning it at every opportunity."

Last week we said farewell to Cadet RSM Oliver Graham as he ages out of Cumbria ACF.

Throughout his time with us, he has set an outstanding example of leadership, discipline, and commitment. As Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major, Oliver has been a true role model to cadets of all ranks, always leading from the front and upholding the highest standards.

His dedication, support, and encouragement have left a lasting impact on both staff and cadets alike. He will be greatly missed, not just for what he has achieved, but for the person he is.

We thank him for everything he has given to the Cumbria ACF and wish him every success in the future we know he will go on to do great things.

Once a cadet, always a cadet.

What an incredible Easter Camp for Cumbria Army Cadets! 💪🌿

Our cadets have had a fantastic and successful weekend, taking on 3⭐ Adventure Training at Talkin Tarn and putting their skills to the test with 3⭐ Navigation at Talkin Fell.

From teamwork and resilience to leadership and determination, they’ve shown outstanding commitment every step of the way. 👏

A huge well done to all the cadets and a big thank you to the dedicated staff who made it all possible.

Well done to 2Lt Stacey Kelly on successfully passing the Confirmatory Module of the IOT course this weekend. This is a significant milestone and a strong achievement as you continue your ACF leadership journey.

Many thanks to the IOT training team for delivering such a high-quality and impactful experience, and special thanks to the background support staff. Your efforts and commitment make opportunities like this possible.
