Bowling Competition 2026

Cubs and Scouts are taking part in our annual 10-pin bowling competitions this week!

2 Cub groups took part last night with the rest of the Cub groups tonight.
Scouts this is the first year we have held a Scouts competition and have a new homemade trophy for the winning team!

Who will be crowned this year's winners for Cubs and Scouts?!?!

Many of you will know Donald McCutcheon who was for many years the District Commissioner of Reivers District now one of the team at 1st Border. Don has always put giving young people the best possible opportunities at the forefront of his scouting. To help some of his scouts raise funds he has decided to release a story of his life see below what Don had to say about it.

"I promised to help two of my scouts/ young leaders raise cash for an International trip. So what could I do.
Well I had an original manuscript that I have been sitting on over the past 10 years. 110 A4 pages which I have whittled down to around 60 A5 pages about my life as a local lad, the military and Scouting.
I have tried to include humourous but true Scouting stories as well as some feel good ones.
If you fancy a copy they are £5 for the book.

One parent from 1st Border described it as a "great read".

Gone Home.

Sad to have to share the news that Rodney Whelan passed away in the early hours of Monday morning, aged 79. Rodney was a remarkable man who was previously Group scout leader for 12th Carlisle st Cuthbert's and also Assistant District Commissioner.

We've all had a great weekend at our district cub camp! 🏕️⛺

Our Egyptian theme was great! We had a great time creating our own masks aswel as turning each other into mummy's

Huge thanks to all the leaders who helped to make this weekend happen it was great to hear all the young people so excited to tell their parents about the experiences they'd had over the weekend. 💚
