Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland

Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland Hospice at Home provides free care and support to patients and families in the home. This page is managed by the Fundraising Team, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

Hospice at Home is a local charity that provides high quality, specialised care for patients with life-limiting or life-threating illnesses, whilst also supporting their families and carers. The Charity's aim always has been – and always will be – to provide a choice at the end of life and enable a peaceful and dignified death at home. We are there for people at their most vulnerable and give comf

ort and reassurance when it is most needed. All of our services are free of charge to our patients their family and carers. This would not be possible without the kindness and generosity of the local community who raise funds and generate important awareness of the organisation. The charity receives a grant from the NHS which covers a small percentage of costs, and the rest needs to be raised within our local community.

πŸ’™ Happy Father's Day πŸ’™

Today, we celebrate all fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, father figures and the special men who have helped guide, support and shape our lives.

Father's Day can be a joyful occasion filled with treasured memories and time spent with loved ones. For others, it may be a difficult day, bringing thoughts of someone deeply missed or time spent caring for a loved one.

At Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland, we have the privilege of supporting families through some of life's most precious moments, helping people create memories, share stories and spend valuable time together in the comfort of home.

Whether you are celebrating, remembering, caring, or simply reflecting today, we are thinking of you and sending our warmest wishes.

🌻 A Huge Thank You to Eden Housing Association! 🌻

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible team at Eden Housing Association for their fantastic fundraising efforts over the past year.

Through soup and sweet lunches, raffles, lucky squares and tuck shop sales, staff have raised an amazing Β£1,000, which has been used to purchase much-needed items from our Amazon Wishlist.

These thoughtful donations include memory boxes, grief books, comfort pillows, hygiene and dental care products, all of which will help bring comfort, dignity and support to the patients and families we care for across North and East Cumbria.

Not only will these items support our clinical, complementary therapy and family support teams, but some will also help us raise additional funds, enabling us to continue providing expert hospice care in the place people call home.

Thank you to everyone at Eden Housing Association who contributed, and a special thank you to Carol Frith for organising the fundraising activities. Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference to local families when they need us most. πŸ’›

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the fantastic team from Court Thorn Surgery who took on the challenge of the Gelt Gladiator in support of Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland this weekend.

Not only did they tackle the mud, water, obstacles and hills with determination and team spirit, but they also chose to raise funds for local hospice at home care, helping us continue to provide expert care, comfort and support to patients and families across North & East Cumbria.

Your dedication, enthusiasm and generosity truly make a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.

πŸ’› Loneliness Awareness Week πŸ’›

Loneliness is something that many people experience, yet it can often feel difficult to talk about.

This Loneliness Awareness Week, we're encouraging conversations about loneliness and reminding everyone that it's a normal human emotion that can affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Feeling lonely doesn't always mean being alone, and reaching out for support can make a real difference.

At Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland, we understand that serious illness, caring responsibilities, bereavement and life changes can sometimes leave people feeling isolated. Through our services, including family and bereavement support and our befriending service, we help people feel connected, supported and heard.
A simple phone call, a chat over a cup of tea, or checking in on a friend, neighbour or family member can mean more than you realise.

πŸ’› This week, let's take a moment to connect, listen and remind each other that no one should have to face loneliness alone.

πŸ’™ Good Luck to Our Amazing Supporters This Weekend! πŸ’™

This weekend, we’d like to wish the very best of luck to everyone taking part in the Great North SWIM and the Gelt Gladiator, especially those who are fundraising in support of Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland.

Whether you're swimming open water, tackling mud, obstacles and challenging terrain, or cheering from the side-lines, your support means the world to us. Every stroke, step, climb and splash helps us continue providing expert hospice care in the home, emotional support and practical help to local people and their families when they need it most.

We know how much dedication, training and determination goes into preparing for these events, and we couldn't be more grateful that you've chosen to support our charity.

Thank you for making a difference in our community. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

πŸ’™ National Carers Week: Caring for the Carers πŸ’™

Being a carer can be one of the most rewarding roles, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding.

Many carers spend so much time looking after others that they put aside the time to take care of themselves. This National Carers Week, we encourage all carers to take a moment to recognise their own needs and seek support when they need it.
At Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland, we understand that serious illness affects the whole family. Alongside supporting patients, we provide support for carers and loved ones, helping them navigate the challenges that can come with caring for someone at the end of life.

Whether it's taking time for a cup of tea, a walk in the fresh air, speaking to a friend or reaching out for support, small acts of self-care matter.

πŸ’™ Because carers deserve care too.

πŸ’™ National Carers Week πŸ’™

This week, we’re recognising and celebrating the incredible contribution of unpaid carers across our communities.

Every day, carers provide vital support to family members, friends and loved ones who are living with illness, disability, frailty or age-related conditions. They offer comfort, companionship, practical help and emotional support, often while balancing work, family life and their own wellbeing.

At Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland, we see first-hand the difference carers make and the challenges they can face. During National Carers Week, we want celebrate you, to every carer for the compassion, dedication and love you show each day.

If you are caring for someone, please remember that support is available and that looking after your own wellbeing is just as important.

πŸ’™ Thank you for all that you do.
