The Community Development Team operate as part of Better to engage with the local community to offer a range of opportunities.

The Community Development Team operates as part of Better and are based at The Sands Centre in Carlisle. The Community Team are responsible for a variety of different projects, these include;

- School Delivery
- Holiday Schemes
- Sports Events / Competitions
- Leisure Centre based programmes
- Community based programmes

The team operate from a number of Better sites across Cumbria:

BOOKING IS NOW OPEN!!!!

Our Summer Camp will be running for 5 weeks from Monday 20th July to Thursday 20th Aug 26. Mon - Fri for 4 weeks then Mon - Thurs in week 5. Sporting activities, bitts park visits, bouncy castle, swimming, arts and crafts and fun games will be on the agenda throughout the weeks. Bring a packed lunch, drinks and snacks.

Venue: Trinity School Leisure Centre
Dates: Mon 20th July - Thurs 20th Aug (note Mon-Fri for 1st 4 weeks. Mon-Thurs for week 5)
Time: 9am - 3pm
Ages: 5-11
Cost: £22 per day

Back 10th June.

⚽️⚽️⚽️Beginners Football @ Sheepmount Athletics Stadium Thursday 4th June - 5pm -6pm for ages 5-11. £4.75pp.

🚨MINI ATHLETICS CAMPS 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 SUMMER HOLIDAYS 2026

After successful camps so far this year we have made the decision to run an Athletics Camp every MONDAY in the Summer Holidays Athletics Stadium

Dates:
20th, 27th July.
3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th Aug.

Time:
9am-1pm each day

During the session children will take part in specialist coaching and try multiple athletic events.

Places cost £13 per child per day and the sessions are open to children aged 5-12. Spaces will be limited to 25. Bring drinks and snacks.

To reserve a place on the days please message the page or email [email protected], we will need the child's name, contact number, age and date of birth. Payment will be made on the morning of the session by CARD ONLY.

Ready to deliver our Home School Session at the Sheepmount Athletics Stadium. The group have took part in many sports and activities over the past 12 months. Today they are working on striking and fielding skills.

Another big thanks to everyone who attended our 6th and last Athletics camp this half term. We’ve had great weather ☀️ The children have all improved and tried many running, throwing and jumping events. 🏃 🏃🏽‍♀️ 🏃🏽‍♂️ Evie has praised everyone of you. Well done 👏 👏 👏

Over the Summer holidays we will have 6 Camps. These will take place every Monday. Details will be on this page soon…
