Yesterday in Westminster, Suzanne and Kate joined other children's hospices from across the UK alongside Together for Short Lives - who have released a new report highlighting the growing pressure facing children’s hospices.
The report shows that costs for children's hospices have risen by around a third in recent years, while funding has not kept pace - leaving almost 9 in 10 hospices expecting to spend more than they receive this year.
At the same time, demand continues to grow for children and families relying on hospice care at the most difficult time in their lives.
The visit to Westminster was an important opportunity to speak directly with MPs and call for fair, sustainable funding - so families can continue to access the vital care and support they need, now and in the future.
Suzanne said "We're grateful to MPs for taking the time to hear first-hand from parents and carers what hospice care means to them and why fair hospice funding matters so much." 🧡
Local MP, Julie Minns MP, made the extra effort to say hello to Suzanne and Kate, and even got one of her team to give them a tour of the building. We're so grateful to Julie and her team for taking the time to listen and make them feel so welcome! 👏
