Don’t forget folks! This Saturday afternoon- please note: To ensure everyone who comes along has a chance to see the repairers about their items we are allowing only one item per household fix, if you do have more than one item you will need to wait till the first one has been fixed and rejoin the queue for your 2nd item. The repair cafe can only operate with the kind help of your donations for the repairs carried out.

🚫 Forbidden Items at Repair cafe

NO COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT :

Microwaves: The internal high-voltage capacitor retains a lethal electrical charge (around 2,000+ volts) long after the machine is unplugged. They also pose a risk of harmful radiation leaks if the outer casing seal is compromised.Gas & Fuel Appliances:

Anything running on petrol, diesel, or mains gas (like lawnmowers or patio heaters) is banned due to fire, explosion, and carbon monoxide risks.

White Goods & Bulky Appliances: Washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, and fridge-freezers are too large for a volunteer space.

Safety Equipment: Car seats, bike helmets, and smoke alarms are rejected because a faulty repair could lead to fatal consequences.

Electric Blankets: Most cafes are not insured to fix these due to high fire and shock risks.

Old CRT Televisions: The deep glass back-panels of old "box" TVs hold dangerous levels of residual electricity, similar to microwaves.

Unhygienic Items: Dirty clothing, unwashed textiles, and undergarments will be turned away at the registration table.

Commercial Alterations: Minor clothing mends are welcome, but extensive personal tailoring or zip replacements on complex items like leather jackets are usually rejected but an alternative is offered to avoid competing with any local businesses.
