JULIE MORGAN JOINS GOOD NEIGHBOURS IN NORTH CARDIFF AS ITS’ FIRST PATRON

Julie Morgan’s distinguished political career in local government, Westminster and the Senedd ended in May 2026. Good Neighbours (GNINC) was overjoyed when she kindly agreed at the end of June to become our Patron.

Rosemary Mathews, Chairperson of GNINC, said: “We are delighted to have Julie on board. She knows we are a small grassroots organisation that will benefit greatly from her patronage. Julie has long been a great friend and supporter of our charity in North Cardiff, attending funding meetings, supporting events and activities, and promoting our services. We hope this new relationship will strengthen the charity’s reputation, support its longevity, and help continue its work across North Cardiff. Julie will be formally welcomed by our members as our Patron at our AGM on July 16 at St Isan’s Church Hall at 5.00pm”

Julie Morgan said: “GNINC is a lifeline for older and more vulnerable people who want to stay independent at home. From shopping and transport to companionship, its Good Neighbour Volunteers make a real difference every day. Its motto — Your Community, My Community, Our Community — says it all: local people helping local people live well in the place they know and love. I am delighted to become Patron and champion this outstanding North Cardiff charity.”

STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM TEA PARTY

On July 2nd over 60 people attended the Annual GNINC Tea Party and an amazing £843 was raised through ticket sales, raffles and sponsorship

Rosemary Mathews, Chairperson of GNINC, said: “We are delighted to have been able to hold this event and see so many clients and volunteers enjoying an afternoon at Christ the King Parish Centre which is a super venue for such an event.”

The Cardiff Ukulele Dragons provided entertainment for our guests and everyone had a lovely afternoon. They all loved getting together and having a chat and a sing song, which is so important for everyone’s mental health well-being.

We held a raffle and with tea party ticket sales and the very generous sponsorship by Sainsbury’s Thornhill store and Finsbury Foods ( Memory Lane Cakes) helped the charity raised the money which will allow us to continue our Good Neighbour work in North Cardiff. Thank you from all involved.

We are GNiNC (Good Neighbours in North Cardiff), a small local charity based in Llanishen. We currently have capacity to take on a few more clients.
Do you—or someone you know—need support with any of the following?
• Shopping
• Transport
• Running errands
• Companionship
Eligibility: To become a client, you need to live in one of these areas of North Cardiff - Birchgrove, Cyncoed, Heath, Lakeside, Lisvane, Llanishen, Rhiwbina, Roath Park, and Thornhill.
