Fantastic Inside Out Support Wales Partnership Network meeting today with Anna Davies at Blue Water Recruitment Limited on 'Pathways into Construction'.
Conversations ranged from the importance of social value and the recruitment of ex-offenders, training and PPE for prison leavers, meaningful work opportunities and opportunities for progression, into-work mentoring for prison leavers and the opportunity to fill live vacancies, plus much, much more. It makes such a difference to have such a fantastic set of partners around Inside Out to help support our work.

This week we have been training staff from Torfaen Works, part of Torfaen County Borough Council, on 'Disclosure, the DBS & Employment' and 'Why Employ Ex-offenders'.
Using our expertise, and from the perspective of our lived-experience facilitators, the training was a brilliant way to help upskill staff from a legal and practical perspective, to help people with previous convictions to get back into work.

Inside Out Support Wales is pleased to announce that we have been awarded funding from the Criminal Justice Anti-racism Community Engagement Network, to research the experiences of individuals who have been racially minoritised in the criminal justice system. This is such vital and important work, and reaffirms our commitment to diversity and inclusiveness across the criminal justice system in Wales.

Thank you to all the staff who attended our excellent training course from Gwaith Gwynedd yesterday in Caernarfon. A full day on "DBS, Disclosure & Employment", followed by "Why Employ Ex-offenders?". The course was a brilliant opportunity for our team to share their skills, knowledge and best practice with a fantastic team of Employment Mentors. Plus learn about the challenges and opportunities in rural communities such as Caernarfon. Diolch yn fawr pawb!

Yesterday we ran a fantastic one-day Substance Misuse workshop, designed and delivered by Richard Bayford to men in HMP Cardiff, supported by Christopher Leslie . The workshop was unique as it explored the journey to release from prison and recovery from addiction, from a lived experience perspective. This work was a real and important example of our lived experience ethos and value, as a Welsh criminal justice support service, helping to reduce reoffending.

Last week we were delighted to be working in HMP Usk with a cohort of long term prisoners preparing for the final period of their sentences. Using our lived experience co-produced Transition Workbook, we were able to help them prepare for this crucial period with our team: Christopher Leslie, Richard Bayford & Jamie Grundy.
