📢 We’re hiring: Young Carers Project Worker

Do you have experience working with young people and a passion for making a real difference in their lives?

YMCA Cardiff is looking for a Young Carers Project Worker to support young carers across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. This role will involve providing one-to-one support, delivering group sessions, planning activities and trips, supporting life skills development, and helping young carers build confidence, resilience and self-esteem.

This is a full-time role, typically Monday to Friday, with some evening and occasional weekend work to meet the needs of the project.

✨ 4 day working week after probation ✨
At YMCA Cardiff, we are proud to offer a 4 day working week after successful completion of probation, helping our team maintain a healthier work-life balance while continuing to deliver high-quality support for the young people we work with.

The role is fixed term until March 2027, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

We’re looking for someone who is people-focused, non-judgemental, organised, confident working with young people, and able to work in a trauma-informed way.

The Morocco Trek may be complete, but we are still feeling incredibly proud of what this amazing team achieved. 🏔️

From the unforgettable views and moments of sightseeing, to the demanding climb itself, this challenge was about so much more than reaching the summit. It was an experience filled with determination, teamwork, laughter, resilience and memories that will last a lifetime.

The team took on tough terrain, challenging conditions and long days on the mountain, all while raising vital funds to support YMCA Cardiff’s youth work across Cardiff and the Vale. Every step they took has helped make a real difference for local young people.

We are already feeling inspired to start thinking about the next YMCA Cardiff adventure. 👀

📢 We’re recruiting: Healthy Relationships Project Worker

YMCA Cardiff is looking for a passionate and committed Healthy Relationships Project Worker to join our team, supporting young people across Cardiff with topics relating to relationships, sexual health, wellbeing, keeping safe and online safety.

This is a varied and meaningful role, involving one-to-one and group work with young people, partnership working with statutory and voluntary organisations, and supporting the delivery and coordination of the C-Card scheme.

We’re looking for someone who is:

✅ Experienced in working with young people
✅ People-focused, non-judgemental and trauma-informed
✅ Confident in planning and delivering sessions
✅ Able to build positive relationships with young people from a wide range of backgrounds
✅ Committed to supporting young people to feel informed, empowered and safe

The role is fixed term and operates on a 4 day working week after successful completion of the probationary period, with flexibility required across evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the project and the young people we support.

What an achievement. What a team. 👏

Our Morocco Trek team has successfully completed their incredible challenge, reaching the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, standing at 4,167 metres.

This was no ordinary fundraising challenge. The team faced long, demanding days of trekking, very basic sleeping conditions, challenging altitude, treacherous terrain and even ice and snow as they approached the peak of the mountain. Add in the dreaded stomach bug that affected members of the group along the way, and it is clear just how much determination, resilience and team spirit was needed to keep going.

Despite every challenge thrown at them, our amazing team pushed through and made it to the summit. Their achievement is absolutely incredible, and we could not be prouder of every single person who took part.

Most importantly, they took on this challenge to raise vital funds for YMCA Cardiff’s youth work across Cardiff and the Vale. These services provide safe spaces, trusted support, positive activities and meaningful opportunities for young people who need someone in their corner.

Good luck to our Morocco Challenge team! 🏔️

Today is the day our incredible group begins their journey to Morocco to take on Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.

We want to wish every single one of our 11 challengers the very best of luck as they embark on this huge challenge. Thank you for your commitment, determination and bravery in taking this on in support of YMCA Cardiff.

Together, the group has already raised an incredible £14,344, which is absolutely amazing.

Every penny raised will go directly towards supporting our youth projects in Cardiff and the Vale. These services are so important, giving young people safe spaces, trusted adults, positive opportunities and the support they need to build confidence, develop skills and feel part of their community.

In just 5 days, our incredible team of challengers will take on the dizzying heights of Mount Toubkal – Northern Africa’s highest mountain at over 4,000m above sea level.

We couldn’t be prouder of every single person stepping up to this challenge. Their commitment, determination and teamwork have already been inspiring – and the climb hasn’t even started yet!
