Previously assessed at Wales Mobility, Gressdon went on to pass his driving test yesterday, first time with just one minor! He learnt to drive with a left foot accelerometer and was coached by Jules. We wish Gressdon and his family all the best for the future! 🚙

Louise Barr, North Wales Centre Manager, is gearing up for an incredible challenge - the St. David's Hospice Sahara Trek!

She’ll be trekking 100km on foot across the Sahara Desert, setting off for Morocco on 1st November. Louise is taking on this adventure in loving memory of her sister, Karen, who sadly passed away from breast cancer at the age of 50. Karen received exceptional care from the team at St. David's Hospice, and Louise has been committed to fundraising for them ever since.

“When I turned 50 it really made me stop and reflect - being the same age my sister was when she passed,” Louise shares. “When I saw the Sahara Trek, it felt like the perfect way to honour her and do something positive for the Hospice.”

All funds raised will go directly to St. David's Hospice, which provides compassionate care to adult patients and their families across Anglesey, Gwynedd, and Conwy.

If you’d like to support Louise’s journey you can donate via her fundraising page or scan the QR code in the image: https://stdavidshospice.enthuse.com/pf/louise-barr-e615f

These new seatbelt covers are being offered by Devon and Cornwall Police.

They are being offered free, to those with additional needs, to help make communication easier after incidents including road traffic collisions.

The seatbelt covers are a new initiative and give help to people with a speech, language or communication need which may create a barrier.

The seatbelt cover can be personalised and wrapped around an adult seatbelt using Velcro. A card inside the seatbelt cover allows the user to add their name, age, address, medical conditions or other information about how they like to be communicated with.

In the event of an emergency a first responder (someone from the blue light services) or a member of the public can look inside the seatbelt cover to get more information and understand how they can respond appropriately to a person’s individual needs to help make them feel safe again.

There is also an option for the seat belt wearer to use the information card to point to a picture showing which part of the body they have injured.

Here is Andrew Parfitt who had a brain injury 5 years ago, he is really keen to get back to driving. Andrew has an assessment booked on the private track but in the mean time we asked if he would like to be our first client to go on the static simulator to which he readily agreed. We explained that it was a training session for us too and he was more than happy to be our guinea pig. He enjoyed it so much that he didn’t want to get off it, he was the perfect client to use the rig as it gave us an opportunity to check his movements, concentration, fatigue etc. We are excited to follow his journey on the track and then hopefully on road with a PDAL.
