Refugee Week Wales Refugee Week Wales is a programme of arts, cultural and educational events that bring awareness to and celebrate the contributions of refugees in Wales.

Refugee Week Wales promotes positive perceptions of refugees in Wales through a Wales-wide festival that celebrates sanctuary and encourages an atmosphere of Welcome in Wales

There are three aims of Refugee Week Wales:

Celebrate Multicultural Wales: Showcasing high-quality artistic performances and productions from professional and emerging artists, and share practices from all corners of the g

lobe. Welcome/Safer Spaces: Increase understanding about migration to welcome people into a safe space for inter-cultural and artistic diversity with participatory activities. Community Development: Increase skills and knowledge of refugee community organisation and artists to leave a lasting legacy for the festival. The objectives:
To increase engagement and the development of artistic programming with Welsh artists and institutions

To engage and develop creative collaborations with refugees and Welsh artists. To evoke empathy through the commissioning of artistic performances about asylum, and hate crime and community cohesion

To communicate current policy issues on asylum, hate crime, female ge***al mutilation - FGM, and Syrian refugee resettlement

To increase the knowledge and skills of staff volunteers in refugee community organisations

To have a strong National and regional steering group that leads the delivery of Refugee Week Wales.
