It's funny. We can talk about our favourite book, film or holiday with so much detail and reverence. We remember the little things until the cows come home. The music. The food. The people. The feeling. But when the conversation really becomes about us... We talk in filters. What we do. Whether we h...

HELPING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY - Free Workshop on National Insurance (9/10/26, 11:15am start - 12:15pm), Language Academy Wales

Hi All,
Next week's workshop is about the UK National Insurance. National Insurance is vital because it builds your record for the State Pension and other important benefits.
If you don’t pay enough or have gaps, you may lose future entitlements. Many people don’t realise NI is calculated separately for each job, so part‑time or low‑income workers can accidentally miss qualifying years. Understanding NI helps protect your long‑term financial security.

Come and join our next week's workshop. It is free, tell others - all welcomed. Regards,
Mike & Phil (Volunteers)

Language Academy Wales director volunteer (Mike Tan) is delighted and deeply honoured to have been nominated for the Community Champion Award at the Mastering Diversity Awards 2026.

For more than eleven years, my work through Language Academy Wales has focused on helping people from migrant, refugee and diverse ethnic communities overcome barriers, build confidence and access opportunities to learn, connect and thrive.

From our free Friday community hub to Erasmus and Taith international exchanges, every initiative has been rooted in one belief: opportunity should never be limited by someone’s language, background, income or starting point.

I am especially proud that this work has supported more than 1,000 people, helped individuals move into employment and training, and enabled participants to progress from learners into volunteers, mentors and community leaders.

My sincere thanks to Nisha Harichandran for this generous nomination and to everyone who has helped make this work possible. This recognition belongs to the whole community.

The Awards will take place at Senedd Cymru on Thursday 19 November 2026, with the Community Champion category sponsored by Final Rentals.

There is still time to recognise another deserving individual or organisation:
