We are absolutely thrilled to share that two of our incredible Ukrainian Hub volunteers have received prestigious recognition at the Welsh Refugee Council– Nation of Sanctuary Awards 2026.

✨ Natali Panchenko was honoured with Volunteer of the Year 🇺🇦
✨ and Viktoriya Kizim was awarded Woman of the Year! 🇺🇦

These awards are a powerful recognition of the dedication, compassion, and tireless work they give in supporting others and strengthening our community every single day.

Their achievements reflect everything we stand for at Ukrainian Hub, resilience, kindness, and the extraordinary things that happen when people come together to lift each other up.

We could not be prouder.

Congratulations to both of these truly inspiring women, you remind us all that community, courage, and collaboration can and does change lives. 💙💛

Please join us this Saturday for a film screening and discussion for “A Million Acts of Hope Action Week” community screening in collaboration with Cardiff City of Sanctuary.

The film “Blue Has No Borders” explores a Brexit-voting small town, where refugees cross from
France daily, and tensions rise between 'woke' progressives and a more conservative set,
nostalgic for Empire and English influence.
The town, built for defence, ripples with ghosts of soldiers and now, fleeing asylum seekers,
evoking shame and fear in residents. Psychological borders deepen, hindering a multicultural
future. But Jessi's film is turned on its head as she meets 6 characters embodying hope for a
community of messy inclusivity and English identity, traversing racial, political, and class
borders, urging liberal audiences and societies to introspect.
Through moments of emotion, humour, and the everyday, the film delves into their lives,
echoed by locals’ thoughts and dreams as the Coronation comes, wars begin, and
Governments change, tracing British identity amidst social and political chaos.

Thought provoking and uplifting.
Please come and give your views.

Diolch yn Fawr - Дуже Дякую to everyone who joined us for the first rehearsal of ‘Côr Soloveiko’ (Nightingale Choir) at the Cardiff Ukrainian hub last month!

We were an eclectic mix of Ukrainian, English and Welsh speakers with a variety of musical experience and training. But we all shared a common goal of cultural exchange and friendship ❤️🎶 It was beautiful to see everyone working together to teach the Ukrainian or Welsh words and helping each other to learn the music in a supportive and friendly environment.

We started learning the harmonies for Ukrainian folk song ‘Tuman Yarom’. Then we learnt the Welsh of ‘Calon Lan’ and sang the chorus with emotion in 4 part harmony.

We sang some more unison and 2 part Ukrainian folk songs and at the end of rehearsal were treated to a performance of a beautiful Ukrainian love song written by a choir member.

Our next monthly meeting is 3-5pm Sunday 19th April at the Cardiff Ukrainian Hub.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🥰🇺🇦

Please contact Nichola for more details on 07913 022419 if you would like to join us 👏

Starting tomorrow! 💙💛
We’re thrilled to be launching a week-long holiday activity club for Ukrainian children at the hub!

With incredible dedication, hub volunteer Olena Koliubaieva, supported by Kizim. has created a full programme packed with games, crafts, outdoor adventures, cooking, and opportunities to connect with Ukrainian culture — all led by amazing community members and cultural masters.

A huge thank you to Cardiff Bay Rotary for generously funding a special trip to a Ukrainian-led outdoor pursuits initiative, and to Vlasova and Dpia Wales for their invaluable support in bringing this project to life.

We can’t wait to welcome 30 children for a week of fun, friendship, and cultural connection. 🏕️🎨🧁
Stay tuned for updates! 💙💛🇺🇦
