What a wonderful and most enjoyable Ukrainian Independence Day celebration we had yesterday!🇺🇦🇺🇦

It really was a day to remember — filled with music, dancing, Ukrainian food, children’s activities, crafts, laughter, friendship and, most importantly, community.

And what a backdrop we were given!

☀️💙💛 The completely blue Welsh sky seemed to have been booked especially for us, forming the perfect blue and yellow Ukrainian flag above our celebrations. It made the day even more spectacular.

A huge дякую, diolch, thank you to everyone who helped make the event happen.

Special thanks to:

Harwood and Cardiff Beach Volleyball for hosting our celebration in such a fantastic setting. 🏐

Viktoriya Kizim and all the children from our Gymnastics and Drama groups, for their wonderful performances and for bringing so much energy and joy to the day.

Our beautiful Strings of heart for sharing your incredible singing and joy with us. 🎻❤️

Nichola Bojczuk and Côr Soloveiko for filling the celebration with such beautiful Ukrainian/welsh singing, and for making your first concert as a choir so special.

Ірина Архитко and the EthnoDna children for sharing Ukrainian culture and traditions with such enthusiasm and pride.

Our wonderful presenter, Cherniavska who kept the programme moving and the atmosphere lively throughout the day. 🎤

To Anastasiia Kovtun for organising the Ukrainian food, and to all our wonderful Ukrainian bakers who contributed such an amazing array of homemade treats. 🥮🇺🇦

Olesia Miftahova for the beautiful art displays and helping us showcase the creativity and talent within our Ukrainian community. 🎨

And a very special thank you to Larysa Martseva for your extraordinary energy, dedication and hard work in bringing it all together. Your passion and commitment made such a difference and helped make the day truly memorable. ❤️

And, of course, a huge дякую to every volunteer, performer, organiser, stallholder, baker, artist, parent, child and supporter who played a part.

Some people just show up, week after week, year after year - no fanfare, just quiet dedication to helping others.

Last year, Yevheniia Rizina took home the Volunteer of the Year award for her contributions through the Ukrainian Hub Cymru Wales community, having touched the lives of over 900 refugees across Cardiff.

If you know a volunteer who's given their time selflessly to make Cardiff a better place, this category is for them.

🇺🇦Today marks a truly special milestone for all of us at Ukrainian Hub Cymru Wales.🇺🇦

We are incredibly proud to announce that we have officially been registered as a charity by the Charity Commission.

This is the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and an unwavering commitment to supporting displaced Ukrainians and strengthening our wider community here in Wales.

What began as a humble donation hub in Cardiff Bay has grown into a vibrant community hub supporting children, families and older people through more than 70 hours of activities every month. From arts, culture and heritage to wellbeing activities, practical advice and support sessions with Cardiff Council, our Hub has become a place of welcome, friendship and opportunity.

None of this would have been possible without our amazing team.

A huge thank you to trustees, Helen McAdie, Nick Wysoczanskyj and Rizina whose commitment, leadership and countless hours of work have helped guide the organisation to this point.

Thank you also to our incredible team of more than 30 regular volunteers. Your compassion, energy and generosity are the heartbeat of everything we do. Every activity, every conversation and every act of kindness has helped make our Hub what it is today.

We are also extremely grateful to C3SC - Cardiff Third Sector Council for their expert guidance and support throughout the charity registration process. Their advice has been invaluable in helping us reach this important milestone.

Becoming a registered charity is not the end of our journey—it is the beginning of an exciting new chapter. It will enable us to access new funding opportunities, strengthen our services and reach even more people who need our support.

To everyone who has volunteered, donated, partnered with us, attended our activities or simply believed in what we are trying to achieve—thank you. This achievement belongs to all of you.

Here’s to the next chapter for Ukrainian Hub Cymru Wales. Together, we will continue building a welcoming, supportive and thriving community for everyone. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💙💛🇺🇦
