StaySafe is a multi-agency team who undertake targeted outreach youth work, in and around Cardiff. We aim to reduce anti-social behaviour, safeguard children, reduce first time entrants to the criminal justice system, assist people and communities to feel safe, and reduce damaging alcohol and illegal drug consumption. Our main objectives are:
• To protect children and young people who are considered vulnerable as a result of their own behaviour or the behaviour of others around them
• To engage with children and young people who may be consuming alcohol or other substances, and to offer support and advice in relation to harm reduction
• To reduce the numbers of young people admitted to Accident and Emergency for alcohol, substance misuse or as victims of assault
• To engage with parents and carers to improve responsible parental care and to provide advice in relation to their child’s alcohol use, personal safety and substance misuse
• To signpost children and young people to partner agencies to divert them away from harmful behaviour
• To tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in identified hotspot locations
• To reassure the local communities.
