A huge diolch to Radyr & Morganstown Community Council for their generous grant supporting the upgrade of our Drama Studio for our recent production of Footloose.
Over 100 students took part in last week’s fantastic, sold-out performances — showcasing their talents on stage, in the band, and behind the scenes. The grant, alongside additional sponsorship, enabled us to invest in professional LED lighting and to create a custom-built stage, designed and constructed by former student Bea Massey, now studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
We are incredibly grateful for the support that helped make this production such a success.
Diolch Radyr & Morganstown Community Council from Mrs Power, Miss Allen & the Radyr Comprehensive School Performing Arts Departments.

🎄 Christmas Tree Recycling is Here! 🎄
Got a real Christmas tree to recycle? Here’s how you can make sure it’s disposed of responsibly and easily:
📅 When: You can put your tree out on your garden waste collection days between Tuesday 6 January and Friday 30 January 2026.
🌿 Where: Please place your tree directly on the pavement – not in your garden waste bins or sacks. Make sure it’s not blocking pathways for safety!
🎄 Important Tips:
Remove all decorations (no tinsel, lights, or baubles!).
Cut your tree in half if it’s taller than 7ft.
Make sure it’s out on the correct week, as garden waste collections happen opposite general waste collections.
Let’s help keep our community clean and green! 🌱♻️

🎄 What a night! 🎄
RMCC had a fabulous time at this year’s annual Christmas Panto — The Little Mermaid! The kids absolutely loved it, joined in with a good old sing-along, Oh Yes We Did!!! 🧜‍♀️✨
We’re also thrilled to share that £256 was raised for St John Ambulance on the night, and a further £311 was collected during the Santa Sleigh Run bucket collection. A massive thank-you to everyone who donated — your generosity really does make a difference. ❤️
This year was almost a complete sell-out thanks to a flurry of last-minute ticket sales… so if you want to join the fun next year, get those tickets early! 😉
Here’s to more community magic! 🎅🎁🌟

Have Your Say in the Ask Cardiff Survey! 🗣️

The Ask Cardiff Survey is your chance to share your views on life in our city, from local services to community priorities. Your feedback helps shape how we make Cardiff an even better place to live, work, and visit. ❤️

🕐 It only takes about 20 minutes to complete.
📅 Closing date: 30 November – don’t miss your chance!

👉 Take part here: Here’s the info:

Cardiff Council’s major annual resident survey, Ask Cardiff, is live. It looks at topics such as Your Neighbourhood, Safety, Cost of Living, Accessing Services, the Environment, Housing, and Wellbeing.
It runs through to 30th Nov, and is in English, Welsh, Arabic, Bangla and Somali.

Responses are used to make many decisions across the Council, so it is important everyone has the chance to share their experience, say what is important to them, and say what they want the Council to prioritise.
There is also a chance to win a prize (there are ten £50 ‘FOR Cardiff’ vouchers).

Paper copies are available in Hubs/libraries, and can be returned using the ‘Freepost CRC’ envelopes supplied, or in the blue ballot box in each Hub.

Thank you for helping shape the future of Cardiff! 🌆

Julia Charles Chair of Radyr and Morganstown Community Council

I moved to Radyr Sidings in early December 2013, and my first experience of the Community coming together was the Christmas lightening ceremony. From that moment I wanted to be involved in continuing to raise the community spirit and togetherness. I joined Radyr and Morganstown Community Council in September 2017 and joined the Cardiff Council Standards and Ethics Committee in September 2022
I have a strong background in Human Resources / Learning and Development in Banking and the Civil Service, taking early retirement in October 2023. This knowledge and experience has helped in the Community Council work as Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Employment and Allowances Committee. I was extremely proud to be elected chair in May 2025, and I will do my utmost to ensure that Radyr and Morganstown is a lovely and welcoming place to live with great community spirit
Away from the Council, myself and my husband Paul love travelling, even better if there is a local park run involved. You can also find us in the Ninian Stand on Saturdays as we cheer on the might Bluebirds

Councillor Iona Shariff - Vice Chair
Radyr and Morganstown Community Council

I moved to Cardiff in 2009 and have loved being part of this vibrant and welcoming community ever since. I joined the Radyr and Morganstown Community Council in July 2023 and have really enjoyed getting involved in a variety of local projects, including road safety initiatives, the refurbishment of the Co-op, work with the Friends of Station Road and Cardiff Council to enhance the village centre, and improvements to the Cricket Club and Windsor Gardens.

My professional background is in commercial management, having worked in organisations such as National Grid and Arqiva, where I played a key role in the Broadcast Digital Switchover Project. I also run a small local business, which helps keep me connected to our local community on a day-to-day basis.

Outside of council work, life is kept busy running around after my family, all passionate rugby players and supporters! I enjoy socialising with friends, taking trips away throughout the year, and, when time allows, indulging in an annual spa day!

🍂 Autumn Leaf Clearing – Dates for Radyr Residents 🍂

As autumn settles over our lovely Radyr community, the streets become beautifully lined with vibrant fallen leaves. While they’re picturesque, these leaves can also become slippery and block drains — so it’s important we keep our paths clear and safe.

🧹 Cardiff Council’s Leaf Clearing Service is back to help!

🗓️ Scheduled Dates:
Thursday 2nd October – Thursday 11th December 2025
The Council aims to visit all tree-lined streets in Radyr every two weeks during this period.

✅ This seasonal service helps ensure:

Safer pavements for pedestrians

Clearer roads and drains

A tidier neighbourhood for all

📍 Want more info or need to check your street?

🧡 Let’s all do our bit to keep Radyr safe, clean, and beautiful this autumn!
