Women Connect First

Women Connect First Empowering diverse women and communities in Wales. The organisation has moved on since, expanding its services.

Our History:

Women Connect First was established in March 2001 to empower Black & Minority Ethnic women in Cardiff and South East Wales by offering a range of services and training in order to improve livelihoods and employability. At present we cater for a wider client group and offer a range of services including advice, advocacy, counselling, and a wide range of training programmes and volunt

eering opportunities amongst others. We target disadvantaged, isolated and marginalised communities, who are experiencing multiple layers of depravation, discrimination and exclusion in accessing services and employment. "Our mission is to empower and improve the lives of disadvantaged communities in South Wales, to help them realise their full potential and make a positive contribution to Welsh society."

🌿 Celebrating our wonderful volunteers! πŸ’š

Our amazing volunteers recently enjoyed a wonderful summer picnic in Bute Park β€” taking the opportunity to spend time together, build connections, strengthen teamwork and enjoy some time in nature. πŸŒ³β˜€οΈ

Our volunteers are at the heart of our organisation and play such an important role in everything we do at WCF. We wanted to take a moment this summer to say a huge thank you for all their time, dedication and support. πŸ’š

✨ What an amazing week at our Summer of Fun Playwork Sessions! β˜€οΈ

Our children enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Senedd Cymru Welsh Parliament, where they explored how decisions are made, asked thoughtful questions, and discovered why every voice matters. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, confidence, and enthusiasm shine. 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

They also made the most of the sunshine with a walk along Cardiff Bay Barrage, enjoying the fresh air, outdoor play, and time together.

The fun continued with a fantastic LEGO day, packed with creative building, teamwork, games, problem-solving, and a LEGO movie.

A week full of learning through play, friendship, creativity, and lasting memoriesβ€”we can't wait for more adventures next week! πŸ’š

We are delighted with the harvest from our Clare Gardens gardening & wellbeing sessions! Despite the recent hot weather, our garden has flourished, bringing us fresh produce, beautiful blooms, and plenty of reasons to smile.

These sessions are about so much more than gardening - they are about friendship, wellbeing, learning new skills, and growing together as a community.

A huge thank you to everyone who has joined us and helped make Clare Gardens such a special place. We can't wait to see what we grow next! πŸ’š
