Teju Joshi (IWAW Cultural co-project lead) choreographed and led a beautiful garbha dance workshop. It gave everyone at the event to participate and enjoy and follow the steps to the dance music.
Garbha is an Indian folk dance originated from Gujarat, India. It is a form of circle and social dance

A brilliant dance performance by Chaitali's dance group ( Chaitali is an IWAW cultural co-project lead).
The dance medley was a blend of 4 generations coming together to synchronise and perform in a seamless way, what a true representation of Windrush spirit of generations coming together.

Lezim Pathak Cymru performed a wonderful composition of Indian folk art Lezim. The djembe was played along with traditional instruments for this performance.
Lezim is a traditional folk art from Maharastra, India, evolved from military training and traditional gymnasiums
The djembe is a rope-tuned, skin covered hand drum that has its origins from West Africa.
The music from such different instruments blended to create a rhythm that was wonderful. What a way to celebrate Windrush

The IWAW Windrush day event was held on Sunday 27th September 2026! What a wonderful time celebrating Windrush legacy and looking forward to building a stronger sense of community and passing on the knowledge.
We had performances led by IWAW members.
Lezim performance by Lezim Pathak Cymru led by IWAW co-founder Sandhya who was playing djembe, a traditional West African hand drum.
Cultural co-project lead Chaitali's dance group made up of 3 generations performed an energetic dance medley
Cultural co-project lead Teju led garbha dance workshop which had the audience on their feet participating and enjoying learning.
We heard from the elders of the community about their journey which brought them to UK. Julie Morgan MS shared her thoughts on community cohesion.
Mrs Sudhaben Bhatt, Assistant secretary of Sanatan Dharma Mandal spoke of her journey to UK.
Hearing about experiences, enjoying performances and socialising were some of the highlights of the day.

IWAW International Women's day event in collaboration with The Mentorring and Aurav Disha was held on Saturday 14th March in Morganstown Village Hall. The spirit of 'Give to Gain' was captured throughout the evening
Wow!! What a turnout, familiar faces and new ones in the audience, thank you for all the encouragement you provided.
We pulled it all together in 4 weeks time!! Thank you to all the wonderful efforts from founders, project leads and our collaborators.
We were honoured by the presence of our delegated who continually support our efforts
Motivational speakers for the evening whose talks on their journeys and the cultural programmes (poetry recital, speech, singing and dancing) from kids to adults of varying ages made the evening special!!
Stalls were set up from businesses run by women who we are proud to say are members of IWAW
Cancer Research Now stall providing information on early detection and awarenes
Cardiff Council initiative of Period Proud Wales stall with free products.

IWAW believes in Women from the community supporting women in the community. IWAW is blessed with members doing just that. Celebrating Commonwealth Day with The Royal Commonwealth Society in a historic building, the Pierhead truely drove in the message of the need for shared values, a sense of belonging and to create a space for open conversations for more diverse and democratic communities. Dear Shefali @⁨Shefali Verma⁩ your effort in organising this special day was tramendous and the work done by the organisation, very inspiring.
It was heartwarming to see so many IWAW members under this roof today who are passionate about supporting these values.
Hearty congratulations to RCS on a very successful event! 🌻
