Hello everyone,

Due to feedback from the Cardiff Deaf Community, tomorrow’s Deaf Health Wales – Patient Experience Workshop at Chapter Arts Centre has been postponed and will be rearranged for another date.

Sarah Smith and Stacey Worboys from Deaf Hub Wales are unable to attend, Cardiff Deaf Hub Coffee Morning will still go ahead as usual from 10am–2pm

Feel free to come along for a cuppa, social chat, games, activities, and to meet friends.

The PCSO visit will still go ahead as planned at 1pm.

We hope to still see you tomorrow for a relaxed few hours together.

Everyone welcome 😊

Don't forget to VOTE today - polling stations open until 10pm tonight. Your VOTE is important to ensure the next Senedd (Parliament) represents Deaf BSL signers in Wales.

Disability Wales produced a useful table showing which parties provided accessible versions of manifestos including BSL.

BSL is important and vital for BSL signers.
Audio is important for severely sight impaired people.
Large print important to sight impaired people including deafblind Easy Read important for people who find it hard to read complex and detailed information such as some neurodiverse people. It is also a useful summary for those who want the key information quickly.

Welsh Deaf people excluded from political party campaign materials and manifestos - article published by BBC Wales today. Martin Griffiths contacted BBC Wales to alert them to this and they agreed to cover the story. The story was a result of feedback from Deaf signers following recent BDA Cymru Elections Roadshow across Wales in March and April 2026. Thanks BBC Wales and thanks to the Deaf signers who provided feedback..

Deaf people say BSL manifestos would allow them to better engage with the Senedd election.

Plaid Cymru BSL Manifesto - it was launched the same day as their English and Welsh Language versions. We thank them for this good practice. The video is very long at 1hr 7mins. You can increase the playback speed to reduce the viewing time. Only two other parties, Welsh Conservatives and Welsh Labour have provided BSL versions of their manifesto. The other three main parties haven't yet done this. Maybe this will help you choose who to vote for on May 7th in Wales?

Welsh Conservatives BSL Manifestos - BSL only with no captions but is a summary so under 10 minutes long.
This manifesto is one of only three to be made available to the Deaf Community in Wales.. Plaid Cymru and Welsh Labour are the other two parties to have done BSL versions..

Welsh Labour have published a BSL version of their manifesto. It is too late for those who haven't registered to vole due to lack of BSL access earlier in the campaign. It is also too late for those who have already retuuned postal votes. However, we thank Welsh Labour for being one of only 3 political parties so far to provide BSL access. Plaid Cymru launched their BSL version on same day as English and Welsh versions while Welsh Conservatives released theirs around a week or so ago..
If you are planning to vote it is worth watching the BSL versions of manifestos to help you decide who represents you best.
Please note this video is a full translation and it is 1 hour 52 mins - you can increase playback speed to shorten the viewing time.
