Ffion Haf Scott, a young adult carer from North Wales and Carers Trust Wales’ representative on the Welsh Youth Parliament, has been selected as a Macebearer at the Opening Ceremony of the Seventh Senedd today.

As an organisation, we are incredibly proud to see Ffion playing such a prominent role in this important event as part of the official welcoming party. Her selection reflects the valuable contribution that young carers make across Wales, and we are delighted to see her representing the voices of young people and young carers on such a significant occasion.

Mae Ffion Haf Scott, oedolyn ifanc sy'n ofalydd o Ogledd Cymru a chynrychiolydd Ymddiriedolaeth Gofalwyr Cymru ar Senedd Ieuenctid Cymru, wedi cael ei dewis yn Gludwraig y Dorch yn Agoriad Seremonïol y Seithfed Senedd heddiw.

Fel sefydliad, rydym yn hynod falch o weld Ffion yn chwarae rhan mor amlwg yn y digwyddiad ac yn ymuno â'r llinell groeso swyddogol. Mae ei dewis yn adlewyrchu'r cyfraniad gwerthfawr y mae gofalwyr ifanc yn ei wneud ledled Cymru, ac rydym wrth ein bodd ei gweld yn cynrychioli llais pobl ifanc a gofalwyr ifanc ar achlysur mor bwysig.

“The vouchers have at times meant the difference between having food and going hungry.”

No one should have to face that choice, but many carers receiving support from our Carers Support Fund do.

This , we're highlighting the reality of carer poverty in Wales and the difference that support can make.

Working with organisations across Wales, Carers Trust Wales delivers the Carers Support Fund, funded by Welsh Government and now secured until March 2029. Since 2022, the fund has helped more than 29,000 unpaid carers with essentials such as food, energy costs, household items and other everyday expenses.

Unpaid carers save our health and care systems billions, yet too many continue to face financial hardship. That's why support like this matters.

Ni ddylai neb wynebu’r dewis hwnnw, ond mae llawer o ofalwyr sy’n derbyn cefnogaeth gan ein Cronfa Gefnogaeth i Ofalwyr yn ei wneud.

Yn ystod , rydym yn tynnu sylw at realiti tlodi gofalwyr yng Nghymru a'r gwahaniaeth y gall cymorth ei wneud.

Gan weithio gyda sefydliadau ledled Cymru, mae Ymddiriedolaeth Gofalwyr Cymru yn cyflawni'r Gronfa Gymorth i Ofalwyr, sydd wedi'i hariannu gan Lywodraeth Cymru ac sydd bellach wedi'i sicrhau hyd at fis Mawrth 2029.

Ers 2022, mae'r gronfa wedi helpu mwy na 29,000 o ofalwyr di-dâl gyda hanfodion fel bwyd, costau ynni, eitemau cartref a chostau byw bob dydd eraill.

Mae gofalwyr di-dâl yn arbed biliynau o bunnoedd i'n systemau iechyd a gofal, ond mae gormod ohonynt yn parhau i wynebu caledi ariannol. Dyna pam mae cymorth fel hwn mor bwysig.

🏆 Huge congratulations to Jett from Cardiff on winning the Inspirational Young Person of the Year award at the Cardiffian Awards!

Jett is a young adult carer who has been supported through a Young Carers in Schools programme facilitated by TuVida and Chloe Powell, Young Carers Lead at Radyr Comprehensive School.

This award is a wonderful recognition of Jett's achievements, resilience and dedication. We're delighted to see him receive the recognition he deserves.
