Article 12 of the UNCRC is concerned with making sure children and young people feel able to express their opinions. It says that they shouldn’t feel their opinions will be dismissed or regarded as invalid because of their age. It also says that children and young people need to know about this right so that they can exercise it, and that adults need to know about this right so they don’t dismiss it out of hand.

As well as this, children and young people should be able to complain about any aspect of their lives as easily as adults can. They should have ways to complain about those in a position of power over them – such as parents, guardians or teachers – without an adult knowing. and complaints procedures should be easy for them to access.

If you need support in making sure your voice is being heard, we can offer support and signpost to specialist services for advocacy.

Hey everyone! Due to the weather conditions we are now having the picnic in the office, with different activities throughout the day. If the weather stays dry we will go out to the local park to continue the litter pick

Join a community litter pick at Roath Park, then relax with a picnic to celebrate International Picnic Day together outdoors.

Join us for a fun and rewarding day at Roath Park as we celebrate International Picnic Day by giving back to our local environment and enjoying time together as a community.

The event will begin with a community litter pick, where members of all ages can help clean and care for the park. Equipment such as litter pickers and litter bags will be provided, and no prior experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to make a difference.

After the clean-up, we’ll relax and socialise with a community picnic. Bring along your own food, or share dishes if you’d like, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings with friends, family, and neighbours, we even have a special donation from Greggs for the occassion. There will be a welcoming, friendly atmosphere, with opportunities to meet new people and celebrate the positive impact we’ve made together.

This event is a great way to support the environment, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors. Everyone is welcome—whether you can join for the litter pick, the picnic, or both.

Let’s work together to keep Roath Park clean, green, and vibrant while celebrating the simple joy of a picnic! 🌿🧺

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight 🌟
Meet Damien, a volunteer using their lived experience to create change 💬

“Volunteering with Voices has given me a real sense of purpose and has helped to build my confidence massively. I’ve gained new skills through teamwork, made new friends, and I genuinely enjoy my time working with both the staff and young people. I’m looking forward to gaining even more skills through training, as well as taking on new opportunities that will help me grow and become the best version of myself.”

Thank you for inspiring change across Wales 💙
