At the end of this term we say farewell to two of our longstanding students as they both head off to Laine Theatre Arts to train in Musical Theatre. They met in nursery school and have gone through full time education and the Shack together, performing together multiple times every year since they were about 5!
As Clems mum, I have never run a class, workshop, or show, without Clem being involved somehow! From her sitting next to me whilst I tech’ed my first Youth Theatre production, The Little Match Girl at WMC studio, 15 years ago, directed by Adele Thomas who is now director of WNO! She has grown up in Youth Theatre and on stage. I am so immensely proud of her and how much she has grown and developed as a performer and I’m so excited for this next part of her journey, it’ll just be weird to not be in classes and rehearsals with her!!
Dylans parents, Steve and Elspeth, have been, and are, integral to the Shack, as trustees and volunteers. From Steve building our sets, to Elspeth helping with costumes, front of house and designing our programmes. But so much more than just the tasks they undertake, they are always there to talk things through, cheer us on and help in whatever way they can.
As parents we have seen our children grow up in the Shack and for both Dylan and Clem to go to the same college to train together for another 3 years before launching themselves into the Industry... well its special... and I hope you will join us for an evening of Clem and Dylan entertaining us one more time on Friday 17th July. All money taken on the night will be split between the two of them to help them on their way!
