It’s always good to hear that what we do at The Talent Shack is understood and appreciated.

It’s our mission to bring the fully rounded world of the performing arts to young people, not just singing, dancing and acting but production arts, writing skills, film making skills, the whole thing - not just what happens on stage.

Half terms are a great opportunity to bring one off workshops to you all, like this half terms Scriptwriting and Devising. Keep an eye out for October half term and of course over the summer we’ve got loads coming up!

Ash’s one off workshop on Scriptwriting and Devising was a big hit for a hot half term. The Shack is always a few degrees cooler than outside which is very welcome right now!

This workshop covered techniques used to create characters and dialogue building to scenes to perform by the end of the day. They also looked at how to stage a scene and how lighting can affect the drama on stage.

Perfect for GCSE and A Level drama students, Ash used direct elements from the syllabus and was able to go into practical detail, supporting what you learn in school and going more indepth.

We will definitely be running this one again in half terms and can tailor it to the individuals booked on.

May Half Term booking is underway! If you’re interested please make sure you book in advance as we can only go ahead if we hit minimum numbers at least the week before so that’s 18th May!

We’ve got a range of workshops and classes ready to be filled with young people wanting to get involved!

Most of the workshops are 12-18 but we’ve got a Junior dance class on Friday. If you’re a regular at the Shack and slightly under the age range get in touch.

Youth Theatre is all about improving essential skills for life.

We don’t care what job you want as an adult, we want to put you in the best position to be a fully rounded, confident, articulate human who will contribute positively to society and smash any university or job application and interview process. But also be able to think critically, deal with social situations, and have a greater understanding of the world. An arts education gives you this but school can’t do it all. Extra curricular is where you really set yourself apart.

Youth Theatre helps you in very practical terms to be the best person you can be, for your community, and for your career, and for yourself.

Of course if you want to be a professional performer, you’ve come to the right place… that goes without saying!

I’ve written this off the top of my head, sitting at my kitchen table after doing a load of bill paying and monthly accounts. It’s what’s on my mind the most - the power of Youth Theatre - I haven’t put it through an ai app, I don’t need to, I know what I mean after doing this job for 15 years, and having spent my life performing. And if I write it as honestly and clearly as I can hopefully I’ll reach more people and they too will benefit from Youth Theatre and a fulfill arts education.
