Yesterday might’ve been a Sunday, but workers’ rights don’t take a day off — and neither do we!
Paul McGuire GMB and I headed to Radnor Hills in Knighton to kick off our campaign for GMB recognition on site.

A big thank you to all the GMB Wales & South West members who came over for a chat and grabbed one of our goodie bags — baseball caps and water bottles were definitely the heroes of the day in that heat.

After a solid couple of hours in the car park, management finally appeared to move us on.
They weren’t interested in discussing voluntary recognition, but they were very keen to tell us we were “unprofessional” for turning up.

If showing up for workers is unprofessional, we’re absolutely smashing it 💪

Campaign started. Members engaged. Momentum building. We’ll be back 🖤🧡

🌡️ Hot weather isn’t just uncomfortable — it’s a workplace safety issue.

As temperatures rise, so do the risks ⚠️ Dehydration, heat exhaustion, sunburn, fatigue and heat stroke can all lead to serious illness or accidents — indoors and outdoors.

Employers have a legal duty to protect staff by providing:

✅ Regular breaks
💧 Access to cold drinking water
🦺 Suitable clothing and PPE
🌳 Shade for outdoor workers
🌬️ Good ventilation and cooling indoors

Know the warning signs 🚨 Dizziness, headaches, cramps, nausea, confusion and extreme tiredness.

If the heat is affecting your safety at work, speak up ✊ Contact your manager, GMB rep or safety representative.

Everyone deserves a safe and healthy workplace — whatever the weather 💪
