Pilot Jamie pending… 🧑‍✈️

We’re excited to bring you an update of one of our grantees Jamie, who’s been training to become a pilot, thanks to a grant he received from the Education Trust of John Vaughan Fund.

In the previous update we’d received from Jamie, he talked about preparing for his flight from Haverfordwest to Cardiff and back again – upon passing this and an exam, he would receive his Private Pilot’s License 📝

This past week we were delighted to find out Jamie has now achieved his Private Pilot’s License! ✈️

His next steps will be to complete his Commercial License exams, alongside working at McDonald’s which will continue to fund his journey.

Congratulations Jamie – we’re all proud of you and excited to see what you can achieve in the future 👏

Peilot Jamie… bron yno! 🧑‍✈️

Rydym yn falch iawn o rannu diweddariad am un o'n derbynwyr grantiau, Jamie, sydd wedi bod yn hyfforddi i fod yn beilot diolch i grant a gafodd gan Gronfa Ymddiriedolaeth Addysg John Vaughan.

Yn y diweddariad diwethaf a gawsom gan Jamie, soniodd am baratoi ar gyfer ei daith hedfan o Hwlffordd i Gaerdydd ac yn ôl. Ar ôl llwyddo yn yr hediad hwnnw ac mewn arholiad, byddai'n ennill ei Drwydded Beilot Preifat 📝

Yr wythnos ddiwethaf, roeddem wrth ein bodd clywed bod Jamie bellach wedi ennill ei Drwydded Beilot Preifat! ✈️

Ei gam nesaf fydd cwblhau arholiadau ei Drwydded Beilot Fasnachol, ochr yn ochr â pharhau i weithio yn McDonald's i ariannu ei daith.

Llongyfarchiadau, Jamie – rydym yn falch iawn ohonot ac yn edrych ymlaen at weld beth fyddi di'n ei gyflawni yn y dyfodol 👏

Yesterday was National Day for Play, so we wanted to celebrate all the groups we’re fortunate to support, who work within their communities to provide play opportunities for children 🧸

Supporting these groups is really important to us and we’re thankful for the donors who work with us to make a difference to children’s lives. Supporting young people today, is supporting Wales's future, and investing in its future leaders, innovators and changemakers 🫶

In particular, we wanted to look at Llambed Development Trust who received a large grant from the Ashley Family Foundation to develop their Community Art Café. We loved reading their recent monitoring report, showcasing the brilliant activities they’ve been able to provide for young people free of charge 👏

These opportunities for play have included painting, sewing, baking, needle felting, sculpture making, creative writing and paper crafts! They’ve supported a variety of ages, creating a safe and inclusive environment and fostering both wellbeing and a sense of community 🎨

For many of these children, it could be the only opportunity they get to access hobbies and activities like this, due to their disadvantaged backgrounds and the high costs of taking part, without funding like this 🛝

We’re really grateful to everyone who helps run the Community Art Café and make it the safe haven it is for so many – you’re really changing the lives of young people in Wales ❤️

Ddoe oedd Diwrnod Cenedlaethol Chwarae, felly rydym eisiau dathlu’r holl grwpiau rydym yn ffodus o’u cefnogi, sy’n gweithio yn eu cymunedau i ddarparu cyfleoedd chwarae i blant 🧸

Mae cefnogi’r grwpiau hyn yn hollbwysig i ni, ac rydym yn ddiolchgar i’r rhoddwyr sy’n gweithio gyda ni i wneud gwahaniaeth i fywydau plant. Mae cefnogi pobl ifanc heddiw yn golygu buddsoddi yn nyfodol Cymru ac yn y genhedlaeth nesaf o arweinwyr, arloeswyr ac ysgogwyr newid 🫶

Yn benodol, roeddem am dynnu sylw at Ymddiriedolaeth Datblygu Llambed, a dderbyniodd grant sylweddol gan Ashley Family Foundation i ddatblygu eu Caffi Celf Cymunedol. Roedd yn bleser darllen eu hadroddiad monitro diweddar, oedd yn dangos y gweithgareddau gwych y maent wedi gallu eu cynnig yn rhad ac am ddim i bobl ifanc 👏

Mae’r cyfleoedd chwarae hyn wedi cynnwys paentio, gwnïo, pobi, ffeltio â nodwydd, gwneud cerfluniau, ysgrifennu creadigol a chrefftau papur! Maent wedi cefnogi plant a phobl ifanc o wahanol oedrannau, gan greu amgylchedd diogel a chynhwysol sy’n meithrin llesiant ac ymdeimlad o gymuned 🎨

I lawer o’r plant hyn, efallai mai dyma’r unig gyfle sydd ganddynt i gymryd rhan mewn hobïau a gweithgareddau fel hyn, oherwydd eu hamgylchiadau difreintiedig a chost uchel cymryd rhan, heb gyllid fel hwn 🛝

Rydym yn hynod ddiolchgar i bawb sy’n helpu i redeg y Caffi Celf Cymunedol ac yn ei wneud yn hafan ddiogel i gynifer o bobl – rydych wir yn newid bywydau pobl ifanc ledled Cymru ❤️

What difference would £500 make to you? 👀💸

This , we’re celebrating a £500 grant for an economics student at the University of Liverpool, that changed the trajectory of her career 💼

Last year, we were approached by Natasha, who had been offered a six-week finance internship with Floral Street in London, but she was unable to accept it due to the high living expenses there 🪙

Thanks to the generosity of Monmouthshire Further Education Trust, we were able to support Natasha with a grant to help cover the costs of living out in London for the duration of the programme!

Natasha said: “The experience has been one of the most formative of my life. I arrived in London as an Economics student with theoretical knowledge and left with genuine commercial experience, professional confidence and a far clearer sense of the career I want to build in finance, data and commercial strategy. The funding made the difference between being able to say yes to this opportunity and having to turn it down entirely. That single decision has shaped my professional trajectory in ways I could not have anticipated.” 💬

We’re always so proud to champion the next generation of Welsh talent and wish Natasha all the best for the career she has ahead of her ❤️

Could funding make a difference to your education? Why not apply for our individual funding, set up to support young people from various counties across Wales, aiming to improve their education

Pa wahaniaeth gall £500 yn ei wneud i chi? 👀💸

Ar , rydym yn dathlu grant o £500 i fyfyrwraig Economeg ym Mhrifysgol Lerpwl a newidiodd gyfeiriad ei gyrfa 💼

Y llynedd, cysylltodd Natasha â ni ar ôl cael cynnig interniaeth chwe wythnos ym maes cyllid gyda Floral Street yn Llundain. Fodd bynnag, nid oedd yn gallu derbyn y cynnig oherwydd costau uchel byw yn Llundain 🪙

Diolch i haelioni Ymddiriedolaeth Addysg Bellach Sir Fynwy, llwyddwyd i gefnogi Natasha gyda grant i helpu i dalu costau byw yn Llundain drwy gydol y rhaglen!

Dywedodd Natasha: "Mae’r profiad wedi bod yn un o’r rhai mwyaf dylanwadol yn fy mywyd. Cyrhaeddais Lundain fel myfyrwraig Economeg gyda gwybodaeth ddamcaniaethol, a gadewais gyda phrofiad masnachol go iawn, hyder proffesiynol a dealltwriaeth llawer cliriach o’r gyrfa yr hoffwn ei dilyn ym maes cyllid, data a strategaeth fasnachol. Y cyllid oedd y gwahaniaeth rhwng gallu dweud ‘ie’ i'r cyfle neu gorfod ei wrthod yn gyfan gwbl. Mae’r penderfyniad hwnnw wedi llunio fy ngyrfa mewn ffyrdd na allwn fod wedi’u rhagweld." 💬

Rydym bob amser mor falch o gefnogi cenhedlaeth nesaf talent Cymru ac yn dymuno’r gorau i Natasha wrth iddi barhau â’i gyrfa ❤️

Gall cyllid wneud gwahaniaeth i’ch addysg chi? Beth am wneud cais am un o’n cronfeydd unigol, sydd wedi’u sefydlu i gefnogi pobl ifanc o wahanol siroedd ledled Cymru ac i helpu datblygu eu haddysg?

Today is World Conservation Day! 🌍

We’re grateful to be able to support many wonderful projects focused on protecting the planet ♻️

We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the efforts of Wild Pickings CIC who received funding from Ashley Family Foundation over a two year period, and have been working tirelessly to foster a love of nature within young people across their community ❤️

The group has been delivering monthly, free, nature-based sessions, coordinating them with the seasons of the year! 🍂

They’ve celebrated Imbolc making St Bridgid’s crosses, doing nature crafts, going on nature walks, and celebrated May Day with handmade flower crowns and Maypole dancing, which you can see in the video below 💃

Wild Pickings said “holding these sessions every month meant that we built up a community of returning families. We were able to offer them as drop in sessions which participants loved as they could just turn up on the day. Word spread and we held a couple of events where over 100 people turned up.”

We’re proud to support them and thankful to the Ashley Family Foundation for working with us on initiatives like this one to protect the planet 🤝

Heddiw yw Diwrnod Cadwraeth y Byd! 🌍

Rydym yn lwcus ein bod yn gallu cefnogi cymaint o brosiectau gwych sy’n canolbwyntio ar ddiogelu’r blaned ♻️

Hoffem dynnu sylw at waith Wild Pickings CIC, a dderbyniodd gyllid gan Sefydliad Teulu Ashley dros gyfnod o ddwy flynedd, ac sydd wedi bod yn gweithio’n ddiflino i feithrin cariad at natur ymhlith pobl ifanc yn eu cymuned ❤️

Mae’r grŵp wedi bod yn cynnal sesiynau misol, rhad ac am ddim, sy’n seiliedig ar natur, gan gydlynu’r gweithgareddau â thymhorau’r flwyddyn 🍂

Maent wedi dathlu Imbolc drwy wneud croesau Santes Bridgit, crefftau natur a theithiau cerdded ym myd natur, ac wedi dathlu Calan Mai gyda choronau blodau a dawnsio o amgylch y goeden Fai, fel y gwelwch yn y fideo isod 💃

Dywedodd Wild Pickings "Roedd cynnal y sesiynau hyn bob mis yn golygu ein bod wedi adeiladu cymuned o deuluoedd oedd yn dychwelyd yn rheolaidd. Roeddem yn gallu eu cynnig fel sesiynau galw heibio, oedd yn boblogaidd iawn oherwydd gall pobl fynychu heb archebu ymlaen llaw. Lledodd y neges, a chynhaliwyd ambell ddigwyddiad lle daeth dros 100 o bobl."

Rydym yn falch o’u cefnogi ac yn ddiolchgar i Sefydliad Teulu Ashley am weithio gyda ni ar fentrau fel hwn i helpu i ddiogelu’r blaned 🤝

Have you ever thought about where your donation actually ends up? 👀

When you give nationally, it can sometimes be hard to see where the donation goes, but one of the benefits of giving locally through us is that you can see the impact of your giving and feel the difference it’s making on the wider community 🏘️

When philanthropy stays local, its impact can be felt for generations 🫶

Where would you choose to give back to? 💬

°°°°

Ydych chi erioed wedi meddwl ble mae eich rhodd yn mynd? 👀

Pan fyddwch yn rhoi’n genedlaethol, gall, ar adegau, fod yn anodd gweld ble mae eich rhodd yn gwneud gwahaniaeth. Un o fanteision rhoi’n lleol trwyddom ni, yw y gallwch weld effaith eich haelioni a theimlo’r gwahaniaeth y mae’n ei wneud i gymunedau 🏘️

Pan fydd haelioni’n aros yn lleol, gall ei effaith bara am genedlaethau 🫶

Ble fyddech chi’n dewis rhoi’n ôl? 💬

How educational grants are making a difference to lives across Wales ✍️

July marks an important milestone in many people’s educational journeys – whether that be children celebrating finishing another school year, or people graduating across the country 🎓

We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight how our educational grants have transformed the lives of so many people we’ve been fortunate enough to support:

⭐ Ben who received a grant from our North East Wales Science Fund to support him financially with the costs of a trip to Greenland for his dissertation research

👏 Daniella who was the recipient of the Brian Rees fund, which will completely fund her medicine degree

⭐ RB who received funding from Brecon Girls Grammar School Trust to support her PhD focused on identifying ways of supporting disabled people into employment in the music sector

👏 Joshua who received a grant from North East Wales Science Fund to help fund his Masters degree in Physics Research from the University of York

And of course, countless more stories! 📚

We would like to take a moment to thank the generosity of the donors that work with us across so many educational funds. If it wasn’t for your kindness, we wouldn’t be able to provide life-changing support to so many 🌟

Sut mae grantiau addysgol yn gwneud gwahaniaeth i fywydau ledled Cymru ✍️

Mae mis Gorffennaf yn nodi carreg filltir bwysig yn nhaith addysg llawer o bobl – boed hynny’n blant yn dathlu diwedd blwyddyn ysgol arall, neu’n fyfyrwyr yn graddio ledled y wlad 🎓

Roeddem felly eisiau tynnu sylw at sut mae grantiau addysgol wedi trawsnewid bywyd sawl person rydym wedi bod yn ffodus i’w cefnogi:

⭐ Ben, a dderbyniodd grant gan ein Cronfa Wyddoniaeth Gogledd-ddwyrain Cymru i helpu gyda chostau taith i’r Ynys Las ar gyfer ymchwil ei draethawd hir.

👏 Daniella, a dderbyniodd gyllid o Gronfa Brian Rees, a fydd yn talu’n llawn am ei gradd mewn Meddygaeth.

⭐ RB, a dderbyniodd gyllid gan Ymddiriedolaeth Ysgol Ramadeg Merched Aberhonddu i gefnogi ei doethuriaeth, sy’n canolbwyntio ar nodi ffyrdd o gefnogi pobl anabl i gael gwaith yn y sector cerddoriaeth.

👏 Joshua, a dderbyniodd grant gan Gronfa Wyddoniaeth Gogledd-ddwyrain Cymru i helpu ariannu ei radd Meistr mewn Ymchwil Ffiseg ym Mhrifysgol Efrog.

Ac, wrth gwrs, mae yna lawer mwy o straeon fel hyn! 📚

Hoffem ddiolch am haelioni’r rhoddwyr sy’n gweithio gyda ni ar draws ein cronfeydd addysgol. Oni bai am eich caredigrwydd, ni fyddem yn gallu darparu cymorth sy’n newid bywydau i gynifer o bobl 🌟

Creating stronger communities across Wales can take shape in so many different forms, and we’re thankful to the variety of donors who make this all possible ❤️

Whether it’s helping a student pursue life-changing research, supporting a child with additional needs, preserving arts and heritage, or giving someone the opportunity to follow their career ambitions, every grant starts with one thing in common: people with potential.

Mae sawl ffordd o adeiladu cymunedau cryfach ledled Cymru ac rydym yn ddiolchgar i’r amrywiaeth o roddwyr sy’n gwneud hyn i gyd yn bosibl ❤️

Boed hynny’n helpu myfyriwr i ddilyn ymchwil sy’n newid bywydau, cefnogi plentyn ag anghenion ychwanegol, diogelu’r celfyddydau a threftadaeth, neu roi’r cyfle i rywun ddilyn ei uchelgeisiau gyrfaol, mae un peth yn gyffredin rhwng pob grant: pobl gyda photensial.

We are delighted to share a success story from a recipient of our Powys Welsh Church Act funding, The Honeypot Children's Charity 👇

Based in Powys, the charity provide consistent and long-term support to young carers aged 5 to 12 years old, providing them with a 3-day respite where they can meet other young carers and engage in a variety of activities 🪀

They have the opportunity to ride bikes and go karts, take part in arts and crafts, have movie nights and really just get the opportunity to be a child again 🎨

Over the funding period, the charity supported 345 children at their Pen Y Bryn location, showing the high demand for support in the area.

At the end of each stay, the children are asked if they felt happier, if they had made any new friends and if they’d come back again. All of the students responded positively, highlighting the success of the programme and the difference made to young carers across north Wales 👏

One of the children taking part “Jenny”, a carer to her autistic siblings, thanked the staff for being so kind and for showing her that there are other children who are also young carers, because it has improved her confidence 🥹

Diolch yn fawr to The Honeypot Children’s Charity for their dedication to improving the lives of young carers across Wales! ❤️

Rydym yn falch iawn o rannu stori lwyddiant gan un o dderbynwyr ein cronfa Cronfa Deddfau Eglwysi Cymru Powys, sef Elusen Plant, The Honeypot 👇

Wedi’i lleoli ym Mhowys, mae’r elusen yn darparu cymorth cyson a hirdymor i ofalwyr ifanc rhwng 5 a 12 oed, gan gynnig seibiant lle gallant gyfarfod â gofalwyr ifanc eraill a chymryd rhan mewn amrywiaeth o weithgareddau 🪀

Mae’r plant yn cael y cyfle i reidio beiciau a go-cartiau, cymryd rhan mewn celf a chrefft, mwynhau nosweithiau ffilm ac, yn bwysicaf oll, cael y cyfle i fod yn blant unwaith eto 🎨

Yn ystod y cyfnod ariannu, cefnogodd yr elusen 345 o blant yn eu canolfan ym Mhen-y-bryn, gan ddangos y galw mawr am y math hwn o gymorth yn yr ardal.

Ar ddiwedd pob arhosiad, gofynnir i’r plant os oeddent yn teimlo’n hapusach, os oeddent wedi gwneud ffrindiau newydd, ac a hoffent ddychwelyd. Atebodd pob un yn gadarnhaol, gan amlygu llwyddiant y rhaglen a’r gwahaniaeth y mae’n ei wneud i ofalwyr ifanc ledled gogledd Cymru 👏

Mae, “Jenny”, un o’r plant sy’n cymryd rhan ac sy’n gofalu am ei brodyr a’i chwiorydd awtistig, wedi magu hyder drwy’r broses. Mae Jenny yn diolch wrth y staff am fod mor garedig ac am ddangos iddi fod plant eraill hefyd yn ofalwyr ifanc 🥹

Diolch yn fawr i Elusen Plant, The Honeypot am eu hymroddiad i wella bywydau gofalwyr ifanc ledled Cymru! ❤️

Os hoffech wneud cais am gyllid neu ein cefnogi i roi yn ôl i grwpiau hanfodol fel hwn, ewch i'n gwefan: sefydliadcymunedolcymru.org.uk.
