🏅 Finish the Summer Reading Challenge and get your medal and certificate!

📚 If you’ve already started, visit the library and tell us about the books you’ve been reading – if you’ve finished all six you’ll get your final prize. Or join today and we’ll help you get started!

📱 Remember that audiobooks, comics and more all count towards your total. We hope to see you soon. 🙂

🎟 And don’t forget….. We’ll be giving away 4 x £25 ODEON cinema tickets to lucky children who complete the Summer Reading Challenge this year. Winners will be chosen at random.

The Challenge is a great way to keep kids reading over the holidays, and offers a real sense of achievement (plus little rewards!) for finishers. Ideal for completing before school starts, with a final closing date of 12th September.

🍻 🛩️ The Ernest Willows, at the foot of City Road, commemorates one of the city's greatest pioneers. Born in Cardiff in 1886, Ernest Willows developed a fascination with flight at an early age and went on to become one of Britain's early aviation innovators.

In 1910, he made history when he became the first person to fly over Cardiff in an airship of his own design, steering his craft above the city and capturing the imagination of local residents. Willows would later achieve even greater fame with long-distance flights, including crossing the English Channel in one of his airships.

Today, this pub serves as a reminder of a remarkable Cardiffian whose ambition and ingenuity helped place the city firmly in the story of early aviation.

Sunday afternoon saw the last of Robin’s sessions at Shelley Gardens. His mural will incorporate all the children’s drawings. Lots have come to take part and what a lovely atmosphere. Chance also for your local Councillors Mary and Sue to catch up with PSSO Monika and local residents.
