Volunteering with Age Connects is more than giving your time - it's about building connections, sharing experiences, and becoming part of a warm and welcoming community.

Our volunteers often tell us that the friendships they make, the stories they share, and the moments they create are just as rewarding as the support they provide. Every visit, conversation and act of kindness helps an older person feel valued, connected and less alone.

🎉 We’re finalists! 🎉

We’re absolutely delighted to share that Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale has been named a finalist at the Mental Health & Wellbeing Wales Awards in the Inspirational Charitable Organisation category!

This recognition means so much to us. Every day, our wonderful team, volunteers and supporters work to make a positive difference to the lives of older people across Cardiff and the Vale - helping people feel connected, supported and valued.

Being shortlisted is a lovely reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together.

In Memory of Stuart Young.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our recently retired Chair, Stuart Young, passed away in the early hours of this morning following his battle with cancer.

Stuart was a very special part of Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale and gave so much of his time, commitment and support to our charity over many years.

Those of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with Stuart will remember not only the contribution he made as our Chair, but the person he was – kind, supportive and someone who genuinely cared about Age Connects and the people we are here to support.

It was only recently that Stuart stepped down as Chair because of his health, and we are incredibly saddened that we have lost him so soon.

On behalf of everyone at Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale - our Trustees, staff and volunteers - we send our love and deepest condolences to Stuart’s wife, family and all those who loved him.

Thank you, Stuart, for everything you gave to Age Connects. You will be very sadly missed and remembered with great fondness ❤️

Did you know our Wellbeing Centre in Barry hosts weekly therapeutic activity sessions with CwmpasOT? 🌟

These enjoyable, hands-on sessions are a wonderful way for older people to stay active, express their creativity, and spend time with others in a relaxed and supportive environment.

You can make a difference in our community.

We're looking for caring volunteers in Rhoose and Llantwit Major to help support older people who are feeling isolated or need a little extra help to stay independent.

As more older people in our communities reach out to us for support, we urgently need local volunteers, like you, who can spare a little time to make a big difference.

Your time can brighten someone's day and help them stay connected to the community they love, whether it's enjoying a friendly chat over a cup of tea, helping them get to a local activity, or offering practical support.

Volunteering with Age Connects Cardiff & the Vale is also a rewarding experience for you.

You'll:
✨ Meet new people and become part of your local community
✨ Gain valuable skills and confidence
✨ Receive training and ongoing support from our friendly team
