Cardiff Astronomical Society was founded in July 1975 by Dr Bob Owens and Dave Powell at an out of London meeting of the British Astronomical Association held at Dyffryn Gardens. Dave Powell is still a member today as the Society continues to develop its activities supported by a very active and enthusiastic committee. The Lyrids peaked over the nights 21st & 22nd April 2026 as shown in the graphic below. (Note: these are camera observations so limited to hours of darkness). Also below are two stacked images recorded by the CAS camera UK008V at Bannau Brycheiniog - Brecon Beacons - National Park against the sky with the stars positions fixed. Enlarge and you can see the Constellations and hence the radiant between Hercules and Lyra.
