It’s Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

Ladies, please make sure you’re checking in on each other.

Not just your most vulnerable friend, but also your strong friend too. The one who takes on everyone’s problems. The one always listening. The one always replying to messages, supporting others, showing up for everybody else and making sure everyone around them is okay.

When was the last time somebody checked in on them?

This week, let’s try something different.

Check in on your strongest friend too, because sometimes that’s the person everybody forgets about. The person who never gets the support because we’re so used to seeing them as the supporter.

We go to them for comfort, advice and strength, but rarely stop to ask whether they’re struggling themselves.

Strong people need support too.

So this week, don’t just check in on the people who visibly look vulnerable. Check in on the strong friend as well 💚

Same Behaviour. Different Label.

The Ban Bossy campaign challenged the way leadership traits in girls and women are often labelled negatively, particularly through the word “bossy.” Backed by influential figures including Beyoncé and Victoria Beckham, the campaign highlighted how language plays a powerful role in shaping confidence, ambition, and leadership identity from an early stage.

At its core, the campaign brought attention to a clear imbalance. Behaviours such as assertiveness, decisiveness, and confidence are often praised in men, yet the same behaviours in women are labelled negatively.

This is not about the behaviour itself. It is about how that behaviour is interpreted and described.

By challenging the word “bossy,” the campaign opened up a wider conversation about how women in leadership are perceived. It encouraged a shift in thinking so that leadership is recognised consistently, and the language used reflects the value of those behaviours rather than diminishing them.

It’s disheartening to see power misused to target women. But watching the contestants stand behind Miss Mexico reminded me of the strength of solidarity. When women support one another, we create space for dignity, courage, and change. You are enough, and your worth isn’t defined by others’ attempts to diminish you.
