RENTING HOMES (WALES) ACT & RENTERS’ RIGHTS ACT: What does it mean for social renters in Wales?

New changes to renting law come into force in Wales on 1 June 2026, affecting both social and private renters. To help explain what this means, TPAS Cymru has partnered with Community Housing Cymru to create clear, easy-to-understand FAQs shaped by tenant feedback through our TPAG members.

Rydym ni eisiau llongyfarch Siân Gwenllian yn ei hapwyntiad fel y Gweinidog Cabinet dros Lywodraeth Leol, Tai a Chynllunio newydd. Edrychwn ymlaen at gydweithio gyda'r Gweinidog Cabinet a'r Llywodraeth Newydd i sicrhau bod lleisiau tenantiaid nid yn unig yn cael eu hystyried a chlywed ym mholisi tai Cymru, ond yn cael eu gweld fel chwaraewyr allweddol i sbarduno newid positif.

We wish to congratulate Siân Gwenllian on her recent appointment as Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning. As the Welsh Government appointed lead on tenant voice, we at TPAS Cymru look forward to working together with the new Cabinet Secretary and Welsh Government to ensure that tenants' voices are not only heard and considered in Welsh housing policy, but viewed as key drivers of positive change.

Today, we hosted an open and honest event on neurodiversity and engagement within housing.

One of the main takeaways from the session is incredibly important for all in our sector: understanding the individual needs of neurodiverse tenants will lead to better outcomes for everyone.

Today we are launching our Sixth Tenant Pulse report on energy efficiency and affordable warmth shaped by what tenants across Wales have told us about heating affordability, EPCs, tariffs, and more.
